Top Law Schools

I searched for this topic and couldn't find it, so I figured I should start one. UCLA is my first choice and I applied EBD and was waitlisted at the end of December.

All those who are dying to become Bruin lawyers step right up...

Checking in. UCLA is one of my top choices, definitely in it for the long haul.

Anyone hear anything yet?

has anyone submitted an LOCI yet?

I have, plus a tour and a class visit.

ETA: I was waitlisted early on so don't feel bad if you haven't sent in a LOCI yet. I'm sure a lot of people have only just been notified of their status.

Did anybody receive a response to your LOCI? I sent mine to both USC and UCLA. USC responded thanking me for the email, but I never heard any confirmation from UCLA.

Waitlisted here too, and this is my top choice. I sent in a LOCI about one day after I got waitlisted. Got confirmation from both USC and UCLA.

thanks, ill call them tomorrow. dude with your numbers I dont know how you didnt get outright accepted lol. I wouldnt even sweat getting of the waitlist for either school if I were you!

Yeah, I don't know why I didn't get accepted either. I did apply last year to both of them and was rejected, and when I applied this time, it was in January. Those two things may have affected it. Also, my LSDAS GPA is 3.76, which is below UCLA's median (and below USC's 75th, IIRC).

I did get accepted to USC now, but they're only offering $20,000/year. Which is definitely not a lot. U.C. Irvine is offering me $40,000/year.

And I hope you're right. I'm still nervous though - UCLA is my dream school. But I'd still need a decent scholarship for them too.

yeah, and the email was from someone I met with very briefly after touring the campus

Interesting... I didn't know they did interviews for people on the waitlist, I thought they just called. It's not the Epstein program is it? Just regular admissions?

yep, just regular... i was surprised too. i think the WL faqs specifically said they don't interview. hmmm

i'm still in shock (160 LSAT), after writing a heartfelt LOCI, they scheduled an interview the next day. i interviewed and in about 3 hours got the call, i am still waiting for the email that will inform me about the seat deposit deadline

most of the questions were personal, like personal motivations, why law, why UCLA, also some clarifications on discrepancies like in my case, 5 year break in education, etc.

they were really nice and candid, some occasional joking and laughing, the Dean of Admissions has a great sense of humor, i felt really comfortable, it is more of a conversation rather than an interview, i was so impressed

Has anyone had contact with admissions regarding when they will start offering spots to the WL? I've heard mid May from some schools.

Oh, I got thrown by the "regular admission" thing above. Didnt realize they had interviewed more than one person.
