Yale waitlist thread, 2011-2012 (c/o 2015)
I guess someone ought to start what is sure to be a pretty depressing thread. Who else is riding it out?

I'm riding it out.
Guess I'll have to formulate a LOCI soon. Going to send my deposit to CLS in the next day or two.

Depressing? Heck, I'm excited to be here honestly!
I'll likely be riding it out most of the summer.

Same here. Yeah, it would've been amazing to get in, but a waitlist at Yale law is still awesome.ScratchableItch wrote:Depressing? Heck, I'm excited to be here honestly!

same same! don't think i've ever been this happy about NOT getting something (yet). I think "waitlisted at Yale law" should be resume-worthy.
good luck to everyone!

This is from Ken's guide....anybody know when Yale starts to review WL apps? It would be helpful to know when I need to send in the LOCI/updated stuff byIn most cases, you want to send your LOCI as quickly after getting waitlisted/deferred (especially if you were deferred) as possible. You don’t want to sacrifice quality for speed, so spend some time on the letter but send it off as soon as you are happy with the finished product.
If you were waitlisted, it’s a good idea to call the admissions office and ask when they will start reviewing waitlisted applicants. If they tell you they won’t start reviewing waitlisted files until April or May, you can take your time and send the LOCI so that it reaches by April 1 or May 1. The benefit of waiting until the deadline is that not only does it give you more time to write the letter but there is also a chance that something new will happen to you that you can write about. You can also be proactive and visit the school, sit in a class, and talk to students and write about the experience in your LOCI.

Awesome. I get to join another limbo thread for schools who like to toy with your emotions.
I would actually get significantly more $$ at Yale than the school I'm currently deposited at, so I'm gonna ride it out. I don't see a single Waitlist, Accepted status for Yale for the past 2 years on LSN, though. Whatever. I'm just gonna send my letter in and try to forget the whole thing.

There are certainly some WL, Accepted on there
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/goblue222
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/ag1213
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/rbl23
And there are more. As the WL e-mail said, they keep a fairly small list of people and it all depends on how the class is shaping up, so there is obviously some hope.

Checking in. I think I'll be here 'til the end (or at least until they admit me or cut me from the list!).

Also (pleasantly surprised to be) WLed. Just curious--where did we get the 100 person waitlist number? I need to know in case someone I'm bragging to asks.

It's in the email. Third paragraph, at the end.Cav3d wrote:Also (pleasantly surprised to be) WLed. Just curious--where did we get the 100 person waitlist number? I need to know in case someone I'm bragging to asks.
In the recent past we have admitted an average of ten people from the waitlist each year, with the actual number of offers ranging from zero to twenty from a pool of less than 100 files.

Follow-up question: is being able to read a requirement for acceptance? Need to know whether I should withdraw now or not.

Checking in, long-time lurker. Don't know what sort of new info you could put into a LOCI other than, obviously, CI....unless you've cured cancer since applying.yoiav wrote:checking in.....debating about an LOCI. whats the genera consensus?
Have you cured cancer since applying?

I know everyone says softs don't count for much, but I have to think curing cancer counts for at least a +5 LSAT boost... Nice job on that.thederangedwang wrote:YesBigRedMachine wrote:Checking in, long-time lurker. Proud to be joining this group of great candidates. Wondering if location concerns count as a valid point in a LOCI? And how would you phrase something like this? Thanks!

So 10 years from now if someone asks me at a cocktail party where I went to law school I guess I will respond with, "Oh, I was waitlisted at Yale."
