I did not receive any response from them after I emailed them back accepting a WL option.

I didn't get a response from my initial 'keep me on the waitlist' email, but I did send in a LOCI and they responded to that the next day.

Purgatory is right! I sent in my LOCI yesterday and my letter of rec is on its way. Where did everyone send their deposits?

Did anyone else get a call from the admissions office? They said they were reviewing the waitlist and MIGHT be in a position to offer me a spot, and were calling to see where I was at. Is the only correct answer to this "Yes I would absolutely go if accepted"? They totally caught me off guard, and also I didn't want to give up any leverage I might have in terms of $$, so I said that it's been my first choice all along but money is a concern for me. I said if they offered any kind of merit or need-based award, that would be decisive. The admissions person said there's no merit $$ left, but people accepted off the WL would be considered for need-based aid. Just trying to get a sense of whether I blew my chances by giving them a calculated "probably" instead of a wholehearted "yes."

very interesting! i think its good you were honest, because now if they accept you they know what position you are in to attend. It's not as if you were like "oh, yea I just wanna get in and go from there" so I don't think your honesty would work against you! fingerscrossed for you!

Omgomgomg I just got the same call but missed it, if only I'd checked my voicemail a few minutes earlier, by the time I called there was no answer (curse you, time difference!). Now I have to wait until tomorrow, what if they take this to mean I'm not very interested? Ohhhhh....dying...

Did you provide any kind of information? (e.g. did you state it's your first choice?)

I did reply to the email that asked us to reply if we wanted to be on the waitlist. I briefly mentioned that NYU was by far my top choice and why. It was like a paragraph, not a real LOCI or anything.

I didn't either, but when I had called for my first LOCI they were nice about confirming receipt over the phone.

I mailed a LOCI after being held in January, then was going to send in another LOR in March, but thought maybe I should have my boss email it (so that I could get a confirmation that it was received). The woman I talked to said that I couldn't have my boss email it, she had to mail it. Then I asked her if she could confirm if she got my letter in January and she was like "There's no way to confirm whether or not we got it." Then, after talking to her more, she asked me my name and then said, "There's no indication that we received a letter, but that doesn't necessarily mean we didn't get it."

I mailed mine and emailed 3 days later and I received a confirmation email.
