Andy, I wanted words and all I heard was... nothing... nothing... nothing...

Clearly the silence indicates that Admissions is so busy trying to fill the vast void that suddenly appeared in their entering class, they can't update us (even though, as Andy says over and over again, they "like to keep in touch.")

Seriously though, the silence in uncharacteristic. I expected another vague update before the "more definitive", "at the latest" date, based on past patterns. Oh well.

I have no reason to be here on a Friday night. Georgetown, what have you done to me?

I would expect movement on the 29th, there are interviews for "a select group of our waitlisted applicants who have indicated ties to the Washington DC area" on the 28th. Got this email on Thursday btw.

Did you get the email promising a more definitive answer by the 25th at the latest?

If you are reffering to the email after their second deposit deadline, then my email was from Andy and promised "another update by June 25th" but didn't include the word definitive anywhere in the email.

Andy, Andy, Andy... I know you don't make promises lightly, so I am still holding you to your word. I expect an update Monday morning to tell me there is nothing new to report, then an afternoon email with much more definitive info. Your honor is as stake, and that of Georgetown, and of the Jesuits, the Church, and the Pope!

The June 8th email:

Dear Ned,

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying summer. I’m writing today to once again update you on Georgetown’s wait list situation.

The response to our second deposit deadline last week was very strong and we ended up admitting only a very few students.  You continue to be part of a group to whom we will turn should any spaces become available. We promise to continue to update you with news as we closely watch the class.  It is possible that our updates could just be to tell you there’s nothing new to report.  But, we do want to keep communicating with you to let you know what’s happening on our end just the same.  We promise you a much more definitive answer by June 25th at the latest.

As always, I thank you for your patience and interest in Georgetown, and wish you a terrific summer.

Best,

Andy

My June 6 email:
Dear xxx,
I hope this email finds you well and enjoying summer. I'm writing
today to once again update you on Georgetown's wait list situation.
Although we had hoped to be writing to you by today with good news,
the response to our second deposit deadline last week was stronger
than expected. We ended up admitting only a very few students to the
class. You continue to be part of a very small group to whom we will
go first should any spaces become available. We promise to continue
to update you with news as we closely watch the class. It is
possible that our updates could just be to tell you there's nothing
new to report. But, we do want to keep communicating with you to let
you know what's happening on our end just the same. We promise you a
much more definitive answer by July 3rd at the latest.
As always, I thank you for your patience and interest in Georgetown,
and wish you a terrific summer.
Best,
Andy

I'm going to withdraw from Georgetown on Monday.

Welp, the supreme court might make their ruling on healthcare today, allegedly sometime after 10 am...

The scotus suspense is killing me.

Does anyone know if people are ever rejected from GULC's wait list? I've been expecting "something much more definitive" to be negative, but now that I think about it, I haven't heard of a single person getting definitive info that was negative....

Hah, scotus won't release the healthcare ruling today. Waiting til Thursday? Will Andy follow suite?

Has anyone had luck pushing their deposit deadline back if you haven't heard any financial info? I talked to their financial aid office, and was told money is still being given out, but it's hard to take that leap of faith without at least a few zeros behind it...

OK, I got in touch with them. They will get back to us tomorrow. I assume they are still assessing the waitlist damage.

Do you guys think that means a lot of students withdrew? There was an article posted on the HLS WL thread earlier that made it seem like the waitlists will be more active than usual this year

Ive been watching closely as their wait list activity has seemingly quadrupled.

Hey guys, got an e-mail from Alison this morning probing interest. She said they are meeting soon and that I am in the small group of people they are considering should any spots open up. Similar to yours illy. Weird on the timing though, right?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
