Anyone else hear back from Financial Aid? I got an email saying I have a financial aid award from Suffolk. I never had any student loans from undergrad so this stuff is all new to me. Am I wrong in assuming that "award" means "scholarship" and not "loan"? The email assumed I already knew about the award, which I did not, hence the confusion. Wish I did though, I'd be sleeping a lot better right now.
Also, for the record, after I received my acceptance letter I sent a letter to Dean Ellis attempting to negotiate a scholarship.

In regards to negotiating scholarships, I'm surprised to how easy it was. I initially sent an email to admissions office with no response. Weeks later I directly e-mailed Dean Ellis and she got back to me within 2 days. She changed my need based aid and increased my package to a 40k scholarship. I mentioned how I received an admissions offer from Northeastern and 20k from NESL, and my financial concerns.

Does anyone know how hard it is to maintain a 3.0 GPA at Suffolk?
This is where I am hesitant: if I am likely to lose the scholarship, I would rather go to Northeastern and take advantage of their co-op programs. I have to make a seat deposit by the 15th.

I believe on their website they said that 75% of the students maintain their scholarships. As for the 3.0 stip, teachers in the first year sections can award 65-70% of the class a 3.0(a "B" or higher). You can find all the information here. http://www.law.suffolk.edu/offices/dean ... /rule3.cfm

I got my letter from Dean Ellis yesterday and my intent form..But no scholarship info yet..and they need to know by May 1st. Would the scholly info would have been included with the intent letter?

I also applied to NESL and still haven't heard anything from them. I was hoping to have some NESL$$ to try to negotiate with Suffolk..that's what I get for waiting for the last minute to apply I guess!

I haven't had any luck in negotiating with Dean Ellis yet. I got a merit scholarship from NESL, but got a response from Suffolk stating that they will wait until after the April 15th seat deposit deadline to award any more scholarships. I got need based though, so I'm hoping to either have that converted into or added onto a merit scholarship.

Regardless, I just sent in my seat deposit today - so maybe I lost my leverage? I'm living at home and commuting, so I'm sure to save tons of money that way.

Has anyone heard about any merit scholarships post-April 15th? I haven't heard anything, but I'm sending in my deposit today anyway. Would they give you something after they get your deposit I wonder?

Strangely still haven't heard from NESL! So my plans to negotiate a scholarship aren't happening.

My decision status changes to "Decision Letter Mailed" today, but it doesn't say whether I got in or not.

Anyone know if this means I was rejected? I'm thinking it does because some people have posted on here that they found out they were accepted via status checker. And under the fees section, I don't see an update regarding seat deposit.

Oh well. I didn't really want to go live in Boston *cough* Joel Ward *cough*.

I found out via snail mail. When the letter arrive the status checker still said "in progess". I live in Boston so the snail mail was quicker than the status checker. When it finally did change it said "Congratulations" in the status field and across the top: Congratulations and Welcome to the Class of 2015/2016!"
None of the fees due changed and the required docs section didn't change till a few more days later.
So I wouldn't rule out an acceptance just yet!

would anyone know if you are waitlisted in day fulltime, are you also automatically considered for the other part time programs? Or Do you have to inform the that you would be willing to take part time if offered?

I believe you need to specifically tell them you would like to be considered for the part time program. I know that for the initial application you have to choose one or the other. I did hear of someone in the same situation as you who was Waitlisted for full time then for personal reasons requested to have the application switched to part time and was immediately accepted. Just be aware that you'd likely be taken off the full time Waitlist if you switch to a part time application. Once you're enrolled and complete either 1 or 2 semesters you can switch programs too (as long as you're in good academic standing etc.). Hope this was helpful. I'd call the admissions office directly for the final say. They're pretty helpful!

was waitlisted for full time. was eventually accepted into part time. the dean called and asked if i would consider part time since the full time division was already full

Doesn't appear that they will be giving me any more scholarship money so I am planning on withdrawing today to attend Rutgers-Newark. Loved the school, loved Boston, loved Dean Ellis/admissions office but I can't justify paying an almost identical amount for tuition plus the higher COL and risk (albeit small) of dropping below a 3.0 and losing my scholarship.

Hope my PT spot and 20K per year year goes to someone on here!

From what i've read that means you might be getting in, just reconfirming you want to still go there. When did you send your application and when did you receive your first letter of wait list?
