Drexel c/o 2015 Applicants

I've been complete since 1/11 and I'd like an answer. I'm borderline according to LSN, but I'd love to get an acceptance. It'd be the only school I'd consider staying in Philadelphia for.

I was waitlisted by them back in January, applied in November. I'm not from the Philly area but I hear Drexel undergrad has a pretty solid reputation. Seems like a competitive market with Villanova, Penn, Pitt, and Temple all feeding into the same area.

Drexel undergrad is like sterling in the city, especially for the sciences. Law school's new, but it's on the upswing.

They said at their open house that borderline students may have to wait until mid March. They said they would rather take a while than waitlist.

I think the co-op will help them grow their reputation a lot faster than most new schools.

The 30k per year is extremely enticing, but I am still seriously concerned about the job prospects since the school is so new and the alumni base is small.

I was too, but I know somebody who has hired multiple people out of the co-op and and know of a couple more that have got jobs with their co-op elsewhere that has gave me confidence in the school. I'm not sure it places in large firms quite as well as Nova or Temple at this stage but the price difference after scholarships I will most likely end up at Drexel.

I really wish that $30,000 scholarship was applied per year, rather than $1,000 per credit.

Recently admitted with 30k/year. 10k to nova and Rutgers and waitlisted at Temple.

My admits and schollys seem to be indicative of Philly's current law school peking order, outside of Penn(no shot). Most likely going to accept Drexel's money. They're obviously tring to "steal" Nova and Temple's bread and butter admits by throwing money at them. Not to mention Nova and Drexel fared similarly in the '13 US News rankings this week. Not that a +100 ranking is horn tootable, but its definitley a factor to consider. Drexel is trending upward in the city, while Rutgers(Rowan) Camden, and Nova are trending downward.

I don't think the rankings matter much. Penn is the top with Drexel Rut-C Nova and Temple all relatively similar job prospect wise outside of the very top of the classes. I'm more than likely sending my deposit into Drexel this week, can't justify spending a lot more to go to Villanova.

+1. Admitted with $25k this year. Since it's per credit, when the tuition goes up next year (and the following year) the scholarship will be worth less. That's if I manage to keep it with the 2.95 stip.

I liked it a lot. The facilities seemed pretty average but the faculty and students were awesome and I really like the co-op. Pretty much confirmed me not paying the extra money for Villanova.

Can anyone tell us when the seat deposit is due for those admitted? Got waitlisted, Drexel's my top and wondering when they might start looking at the waitlists.

@ acirilli1722:

Agreed. Great students, great faculty. Facility was a bit small--but oh well. Not to mention the rec center is right across the street--really jacked up about that.

@ Carly:

Intent to enroll forms and 1st seat deposits are due by the 15th. Best of luck, ill be pulling for you.

Accepted today off of the waitlist with $10K scholarship ($334/credit hr)! Drexel has quickly jumped to the top of my list with their offer. I've been on the waitlist since January, so excited to finally get a decision!

Yep, got the email this morning! Hopefully you get some good news soon as well. Definitely going to make a trip out there soon. For everyone who has visited already, what are your impressions of the school?

Prop Joe, congrats!! I visited campus last month. The law school building was very nice. It was a bit on the smaller side, relatively speaking--but brand new and well equipped. Its also about 5 minutes from the "heart" of Center City. City Hall is within plain view from the school. So, I couldn't be happier with location and facilities. What sold me, though, was the faculty and the students. Very helpful, informative and cordial. Everyone I spoke to, from dean on down, seemed genuinely enthused about being a member, and on the "ground floor", of the law school.
