William Mitchell 2015 (2011-2012 Cycle)

Although this is not a school discussed much on TLS, its a good safety school and great for people looking to live/practice in MN. I applied to all the Minnesota schools but its looking likely that I'll be attending William Mitchell because of the Full Scholarship I was just offered with a 165/3.59 with only a 2.5 Stipulation. Haven't heard back yet from UMN but probably won't get scholarships, if even accepted.
Hopefully this could be used as a class of 2015 thread as well, similar to last years WM 2011 thread

Just thought I'd chime in and say you're not the only one considering WM. I'm in the same position as you, numbers over the 75th percentiles and full tuition with a low GPA stip. I got in to the U of M and got a shit scholly (shit, as in, people with the same numbers got between 15-20k more per yer), which makes WM look even more appealing.
The fact that every other large, mid, or small sized firm partner and every other judge in Minny seems to have gone to WM doesn't hurt either...

I got accepted 12/15 and a scholarship packet (and phone call) came a few days later. I was offered a full scholarship with my 165/3.6 stats.

A forum post from two years ago suggests that William Mitchell scholarships start with a 156 LSAT and a 3.0 GPA,

Just got a 50% tuition scholarship offer with my acceptance packet.... 156/3.36gpa
they said in the packet that the reason for my scholly was due to my exemplar soft factors, so that should give hope to anyone with similar numbers and good softs that big scholarships are a possibility.

I've narrowed down my choices between St. Mary's and William Mitchell.
Any thoughts on which I should choose??
I really really want to be a JAG (preferably Air Force) and I've read the rank of the school doesn't really matter as much, but in case that doesn't work out, WM's better rep in Minnesota gives me stronger employment prospects.
On the other hand I do eventually want to move back to Texas. I just don't know when.
argghh I can't decide >_<.

Just threw in a last minute app to WM today as I've been getting wait listed at the majority of schools I've applied to so far. Pretty convenient that they have such a late deadline
I know I'm late so my decision will take a while, but curious how long each of your decisions took-? Also did you get them in the mail? Email? Phone? Any info would be great.
Thanks!

I sent my app in november 9th, got notice on status checker that I was accepted december15th, call to confirm the 17th, and packet with scholarship infor on the 18th. However, things are much later in the cycle now, you will probably hear back soon.
Really though, I think you should retake the LSAT and apply next cycle, with a 149, there is a chance you won't get in and you are almost certainly going to pay full price. I don't think having 100k+ debt from william mitchell is worth it. I took a diagnostic test last april and scored a 152. Taking a kaplan course and studying hard for 6 weeks for the june 2011 test got me a 165 and full scholarship to william mitchell, you could easily do the same, you'll just have to wait a year, it will be worth it in the long run.

Thanks for your response & also the advice. I am retaking the LSAT in June & know that I'll score far higher than I did in December. I actually wrote an addendum for each of my apps because I made the stupid mistake of taking the LSAT right after I had my second baby & at the same time I was preparing for finals in my last semester as an undergrad and raising my 4 year old son & newborn daughter while my husband worked two jobs.

Like I said - stupid mistake! At the very least, in my sleep deprived state I should have just canceled my score after walking out of the test, but ahhhh- live & learn, right?
Anyways, I took the Kaplan course last summer and continuously scored in the high 160's on all of my practice tests so I'll take my chances w/apps this year & any improvements I add to my LSAT score (and trust me, there
will be improvements) I'll use to negotiate $$. But if need be I'll hold off & apply next cycle.
