I'll be going! Trying to decide if I'm making the trip alone or with a friend.

Did anyone get the email today about reduced deposit if you go to the open house?
Yes I received it as well.

Ok, so I just decided to check this forum out. I got in in late January (3.0/161, URM).

Worried about getting my 2L and 3L years as an in-state student, coming from Miami, but would start living in VA this Summer...

Any thoughts? Thanks...

Virginia laws require that you live in the state for a year prior to the start of classes to get in-state tuition for the first year. If you want to change from paying out-of-state to in-state, you have the burden to prove that you plan on remaining in the state indefinitely after graduating, which I have heard is difficult to prove without having a spouse here, a home, etc.

I will have lived in VA for a year prior to the start of classes (since July 2011) and was granted in-state classification at W&M and UVA. Mason classified me as OOS and told me that I couldn't appeal it until I paid seat deposits. Someone else ITT said that they have lived in VA their entire life and went to undergrad here, and they were classified as OOS. Given our difficulties getting Mason to agree with clear circumstances where we should have been entitled to in-state tuition, I would be skeptical about being able to change your residency next year.

TL;DR - I wouldn't count on getting in-state your 2nd and 3rd years. Negotiate for scholarships.

Has anybody not gotten in by phone call? It seems to be a nice touch on GMU's part, but I've heard from some people in previous years that they only got letters.

So I just saw this on the admitted students site...

"We mailed, via U.S. mail, an initial round of scholarship offers on February 24. There will be a second round of offers in late March. We will revisit scholarships again after we have received first seat deposits in mid April. Please keep in mind that money becomes available right up to orientation as students who deposit with us come off wait lists for other schools and make alternative choices."

I checked my status checker and it says there was a mailing February 21...could I have just received an earlier scholarship mailing date or is this a different mailing? Any other admits have recent mailing dates?

Thoughts on why we have a 2/21 not a 2/24?

Possibly a typo? Four and one are adjacent on the number pad. I live in Arlington and would have received anything by today (Friday) that was sent on Tuesday.

Alternately, the 2/21 entry could be the result of some other data code that means we didn't get squat.

I have 2/21 as well. Im pretty certain I'll get some kind of offer so odds are all of us have made the first round of mailing. Good luck all, may your schollys be plentiful with low stips (not likely, but we can hope for less than top 25% this year!).

Forty percent of USPS first class mail is delivered next day. Anyone get anything today?

Also, thoughts on whether "revisit" means money to more people, more money to the same people, or a little bit of both?

Nothing today for me. But, I know that some large offices take AB extra day for mail bc it gets picked up and not taken to the post office. I'm hoping for Monday but wouldn't be surprised if it took til Wednesday. Good luck everyone, "daddy needs a new pair o shoes!!!".

I got denied on 2/21 with fairly comparable #'s to some of those who were admitted. I guess they have a lower LSAT floor then some other schools. Good luck to everyone still waiting on a decision

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
