I really can't decide... and I'm assuming I'm not going to get taken off the hold list at Northwestern.

I think I would take whichever school gave you the best stips out of LUC/DePaul/Kent. But that's just me.

+1. Plus, the internship opportunities in Chicago would be much easier to access as opposed to those at UIUC. If you don't want to live in Chicago after school, that changes things.checkster wrote:I think I would take whichever school gave you the best stips out of LUC/DePaul/Kent. But that's just me.

If I don't hear anything from them soon, looks like I will go into negotiation mode.
Wish me luck!

You may not hear from them until this week. I only live a few hours from Chicago and it still took 4 days to get to me!rma wrote:Congrats!CPM723 wrote:Finally checked my mail today- 6K a year with the 2.0 stip. I'm pretty pumped

I'm not expecting anything because as I mentioned earlier, there is nothing listed under mailings for me.CPM723 wrote:You may not hear from them until this week. That being said, I'll probably wait until March, and if i don't hear anything I'll try to negotiate then.

So just wondering... I have a hard science degree and want to practice health/IP law, and I'm from chicago -- just got a letter from Loyola with 21000/yr scholarship with a 2.0 stip... I've gotten into better schools but that deal sounds really sweet. Is loyola worth considering then? Even with the scholarship it's still pretty expensive school to attend, but I really like their health law program...

I obviously don't know the specifics of your decision, but if Health law is in your future (combined with IP) you should probably consider LUC. $21,000 is just a touch over 50% tuition, not so bad. I think you have to factor in your other offers and determine what you'd like to do after graduation and the area that you'd like to practice.magicbunny wrote:So just wondering... I will be there too. I am learning pretty hard towards LUC as my selection. I am still waiting on Kent, but it would take a hail mary to make me select them over LUC.CPM723 wrote:I sure will be! From what I've heard, LUC does the best out of the three when it comes to job prospects. That may be anecdotal, but I also think that LUC has a great reputation in general.givemea170 wrote:I definitely want to live in Chicago after school. Need to get my answer back from Loyola!

I thought this was interesting to look at. . . http://www.luc.edu/law/career/statistics_7.html
On this page, there is an option that says " Where the 1L's worked - Summer 2010" It gives a pretty wide range of 1L options that students are taking during their 1L summers. I haven't seen this type of disclosure before, so I am certainly happy to see if from LUC.

I got 50% from Depaul so I'd love to get 50% from LUC as well.CPM723 wrote:From what I've heard, LUC does the best out of the three when it comes to job prospects. Sorry to ask maybe a dumb question, but I want to specialize in Business Law... should that make my decision of UIUC, Depaul, Kent, or LUC easier?
I obviously need to do a lot more research!

I do want to stay in Chicago in the future and I have a BS degree in biochemistry So health/IP is a good match for me. I got into several T30 with $$, so the 21000 isn't terribly exciting to me. I'll definitely come to their ASW though... passing by their buildings a lot but never going inside of it. Anyone will come to the reception on Mar.16? Thanks for the information!JG7773 wrote:I obviously don't know the specifics of your decision, but if Health law is in your future (combined with IP) you should probably consider LUC. $21,000 is just a touch over 50% tuition, not so bad. I think I'm going to the ASD over the Scholarship Reception since it'll probably be the same information and such. Plus, I'd like to enjoy Chicago while i'm theremagicbunny wrote:I do want to stay in Chicago in the future and I have a BS degree in biochemistry So health/IP is a good match for me. Chicago is an awesome city, plus this year's weather is amazing I guess I could do both for the sake of knowing people (don't have anything to do that friday anyway). I guess I'll see you around then!CPM723 wrote:I think I'm going to the ASD over the Scholarship Reception since it'll probably be the same information and such.
