This thread is for all of the people without WUSTL numbers, but who still want St. Louis. I applied last week, and if last year is any indicator this is going to be A LOOONG wait. Good luck to all you applicants!

Checking in! I'm borderline for WUSTL, so I'm applying to SLU as well. Definitely want to end up in St. Louis (where I'm from originally).

yeah, I hear you. A 168 cutoff is pretty rough...but hopefully that dips somewhat this year.

I have a couple of friends that just graduated from SLU, and they are doing pretty well for themselves... both ended up in big firms in St. Louis. They are both happy & said that going to SLU may have actually helped them rather than hurt them in terms of the job prospects. It's just tough everywhere right now for (almost) everyone.

if you don't mind, did class rank or ties help them out in their job search? just asking to see how important STL ties...

I think it was their ties to the area more than anything. One was in the top 5% of the class, and the other was in the bottom half. Both have great positions with large firms and are equally successful. The one who was in the bottom of the class specifically said that the interviewers made mention of the fact that they like applicants who are from the area, because they assume you aren't a flight risk.

well you're above both medians, and i'm well above the 75th for LSAT...so that's probably why we got some movement. I was below both medians last year and had to wait for-ever, but i think a lot of people did. maybe they're just faster this year?

if we are under review already i think (hope) we might. That's awesome, I don't go to undergrad there but I went to one in the area. We would always go to the Shell right off campus, the Dr. Pepper slushies are the shit. I really like the campus, but the law school is pretty bad. I know that they have been trying to raise money for a new building, hopefully something is announced because that building is grotesque compared to the ones around it.

Yeah, the law school is definitely not the nicest building on campus.
Basketball will definitely be a bright point on campus this year, makes surviving the freezing wind easier.

Mine has been that way for at least 3 weeks. I'm not sure when they are going to actually give decisions.

Mine updated to the same thing, called because I will be out of for the next couple weeks and the lady did say decisions will be both emailed and mailed. So we should hear soon. My numbers are a little iffy for WUSTL so I'm hoping for some good $$$ from SLU to be able to stay in Missouri. Anyone have opinions on career prospects for staying in Missouri for SLU vs Mizzou?

From what I have heard, SLU dominates St. Louis along with WUSTL. Mizzou will have a shot at getting jobs as well, but it will be easier to make connections if you are going to school in St. Louis.
I have visited Mizzou and really enjoyed the area, and am a current undergrad at SLU. If anyone has any questions about the campus or area in general i'll be happy to help.

I am thinking about throwing in my app to SLU. I emailed them and got a fee waiver, and I have a friend there who is a 1L and loves it, but I am still not certain. I do want to end up in St. Louis eventually though. I will probably pay the $16 and see what happens.
