Re: Willamette c/o 2015
Wow, this thread took a nose dive after Thanksgiving.
Anyway, I just got off the phone with admissions. I scheduled a visit for Presidents' Day, 2/20. I'm going to do L&C that day too, and Seattle U on the previous Friday. That will be a fun little 4-day PNW trip for me. Can't wait to get out of AZ (I'm from CA).
Also, they said that the first decision letters should be mailed in the next week.

Should be a great trip! That is pretty exciting about first acceptances going out, because if I get any scholarship money from Willamette I think it will jump to the top of list. I don't think they do any updating on the status checker, or at least we won't know until it happens because they didn't even have a status checker option before this year.un-vordox wrote:Wow, this thread took a nose dive after Thanksgiving.

Yeah, I'm kind of high on Seattle right now, but I will take a serious look at Willamette if I get some good scholarship $$.

Hi everyone! Not sure what randomly prompted me to check out TLS after years (except maybe procrastination and a lack of motivation to do work). I am currently a 3L at Willamette graduating in May and would be happy to answer questions. I've been happy with my choice to come to Willamette, and I agree with what others have said on here - the school is competitive in the Oregon and Washington job markets. I've met with and worked for attorneys from a variety of backgrounds and all seem to respect my choice of law school.
Congrats to those of you that have been accepted!

How is the job hunt going for you, and for your peers?Trissajane wrote:Hi everyone! Curious if you have chosen to participate in any of the certificate areas that Willamette offers, and what you have heard about the Law and Government program and likelihood of receiving employment/externships in that arena. Thanks for coming on and taking questions!Trissajane wrote:Hi everyone! Does having First, Second, and Third Deposits under the "Fees" section a sign that I may be accepted?

Not really .. Some of the status checkers have multiple line items underneath the fees section.rishabhagny wrote:Does having First, Second, and Third Deposits under the "Fees" section a sign that I may be accepted?

If it also has the amounts and due dates, that is a good sign.rishabhagny wrote:Does having First, Second, and Third Deposits under the "Fees" section a sign that I may be accepted?

Woohoo! Received the $16,000 Dean's scholarship today! That basically equates to a 1/2 tuition scholarship to Willamette! It is renewable with a 2.90 gpa, which I assume is top 50% (but I'll have to do research to confirm). I don't like to jump to conclusions before the end of my cycle, but other schools will have to make significant offers to compete. Good luck to everyone who is waiting!

Re: Willamette c/o 2015
It is really crazy that no one else on TLS or LSN has heard from them. It's a little eerie being the only one with a decision, like being the first person to arrive at a party and the host having to leave to pick up last minute supplies. But, I'm sure many more decisions will be out in no-time!

Congrats to those of you who are getting acceptance letters and scholarships!
Re: job hunt for me and my peers - It is tough, but I think that's the case everywhere. I actually have several classmates who are returning to their various home states in other parts of the West/Southwest, and I think it is harder for them because they haven't had the opportunity to network. As for myself, I do have a couple of irons in the fire (so...that's something). Finding part-time work during school was not too difficult for most, with Portland being close and all of the state agencies in Salem. Those that did work are the ones getting interviews now, from what I can tell.
Re: certificate programs - I am doing the Business Law certificate because it required classes I had planned to take anyway. I do think the programs help you demonstrate your commitment to a particular area. I am not sure about Law & Government but I do know there are lots of externship opportunities with governmental agencies in the area.
Good luck to all of you!
