LSN Year?

Do you think that last year's cycle will be an accurate indicator of chances at any given school or should I may be looking at another cycle year? The reason I ask is because the number of test-takers (and presumably) applicants went down this year; so would another cycle be a better indicator?

This is all speculation on my part but I'd say last years would be more useful than older years' -- wasn't there a drop in applicants last year too?

Most recent cycle is generally best but if you want more data there's nothing wrong with going back several years of course with the caveat that older data is less ideal (especially if people with numbers similar to yours are rare).

And maybe this site is most helpful for going back several years. I think they only have data up to 2009.

The environment has changed quite a bit and schools struggled to keep their medians up last year. The 2009-2010 cycle was a completely different story where many schools easily maintained or raised their medians.

Only look at last year, and perhaps shoot a bit higher.

New to all of this. What are people hearing about numbers of law school applicants this cycle, or is it too early to see a trend?

Too early. First indications will come in December with the LSAC mid-cycle newsletter/report (that may or may not have any useful information in it). By February it will be clearer, but no one can really say until waitlist acceptances go out.

I wouldn't take myself off any waitlists this year. I am still kicking myself for dropping off of the Chicago waitlist last cycle when others with similar stats got offers with $.

Please stop getting my hopes up.
