I applied too! What do you mean you don't know how they're going to handle this cycle?

Admissions scandal with the inflated medians. I applied before it broke out. Will go if the money is right

Will apply to, at the least, have a bargaining chip from their scholarship money. Wouldn't completely rule out attending.

Any guesses as to where UIUC will be in the next USNWR rankings? I applied because I love the area, but unless I get a full ride, I won't attend. We'll see. Good luck to you all.

You love the area of Central Illinois?

To answer your question - people around here seem to think 30s or 40s.

As for the cycle, I'm guessing some mega money will be given out. Students will be skeptical and $ is the only way to get them here.
Any idea how Chicago placement will affected? I've heard that it may be impacted, but less dramatically than its change in ranking.

Chicago is the only city we place in. If you want any city other than Chicago don't come to Illinois. In fact, if you aren't comfortable with the idea of having to take a job in Joliet or Peoria or some other bumfuck town, don't come to Illinois.

Ugh, working in Joliet or Peoria would be awful. I want 100% Chicago. Will the placement percentage go down significantly?

I don't think placement will go down that much. But even if there had been no scandal, not everyone in the class is gonna get Chicago. If you come here and wind up below median, you're not going to be able to be too picky about what city you work in.

You're getting in at a higher ranked school than UIUC anyway, bro.

Yeah, hopefully. It's just frustrating because UIUC was edging WUSTL out as my top safety school choice. But now with all this drama, WUSTL looks to be the way to go.

what are the real medians, any shot with a 162/3.1

median lsat for last year was a 163...but God knows what that is gonna mean for this cycle. I feel like their admissions standards won't go down too much, but the money they hand out might be rather large in order to get them to an honest 168.

Who knows this year with the scandal and such. That could be big money or a straight denial. Nobody knows.

Lol, where do you get this information???? I say quite the opposite, as the class itself is becoming more geographically diverse, so are the interest of people. I personally know 2Ls with jobs almost in every market, with NY, Texas, and California getting the most after Chicago. And is not 1 person, I know at least of 5 people who got SAs at each of those states.

And guys, remember that the rankings are NOT based on medians, they are based on 25th and 75th percentile. Hence, the median might be 163, but doesnt mean that the 25th and 75th percentile moved much. Also, look at Indiana's 25th and 75th.... I REALLY doubt that we will dip below 30, my guess is 26-28. Also, we had another admission scandal 5 years ago, just as big if not bigger. Most employers dont even remember it (I ask a few during a networking event), the school dropped but it picked up its ranking the next year. I bet the same will happen again, but by the time the class of 2015 is graduating, no one will remember it.

Also, always remember that the negative nancys and those who didnt get jobs because THEY CANT INTERVIEW AND BLAME IT ON THE SCHOOL are the ones who are most likely to post here. Look at the numbers objectively. You can always apply (its free) and see where it goes from there.

That's my hope. I know that those numbers would have gotten me auto-reject last year.

Hoping that others are staying far away from the scandal.
