Admissions scandal with the inflated medians. I applied before it broke out. Will go if the money is rightcph4life wrote:I applied too! What do you mean you don't know how they're going to handle this cycle?
You love the area of Central Illinois?ScrabbleChamp wrote:Any guesses as to where UIUC will be in the next USNWR rankings? I applied because I love the area, but unless I get a full ride, I won't attend. We'll see. Good luck to you all.
Any idea how Chicago placement will affected? I've heard that it may be impacted, but less dramatically than its change in ranking.Wart wrote:I think somewhere between 27-35 is where we'll land. 40s is unlikely given that we still place in the NLJ250 like a top 250 and that our medians are competitive or better than a lot of the schools ranked around 30 (i.e. Iowa, UNC).
As for the cycle, I'm guessing some mega money will be given out. Students will be skeptical and $ is the only way to get them here.
Chicago is the only city we place in. If you want any city other than Chicago don't come to Illinois. In fact, if you aren't comfortable with the idea of having to take a job in Joliet or Peoria or some other bumfuck town, don't come to Illinois.Samara wrote:Any idea how Chicago placement will affected? Ugh, working in Joliet or Peoria would be awful. I want 100% Chicago. Will the placement percentage go down significantly?Kilpatrick wrote:Chicago is the only city we place in. I don't think placement will go down that much. But even if there had been no scandal, not everyone in the class is gonna get Chicago. If you come here and wind up below median, you're not going to be able to be too picky about what city you work in.Samara wrote:Ugh, working in Joliet or Peoria would be awful. I want 100% Chicago. You're getting in at a higher ranked school than UIUC anyway, bro.Samara wrote:Ugh, working in Joliet or Peoria would be awful. I want 100% Chicago. Yeah, hopefully. It's just frustrating because UIUC was edging WUSTL out as my top safety school choice. But now with all this drama, WUSTL looks to be the way to go.UnamSanctam wrote: You're getting in at a higher ranked school than UIUC anyway, bro.
Who knows this year with the scandal and such. That could be big money or a straight denial. Nobody knows.NiccoloA wrote:Chance with 166/3.6?
Lol, where do you get this information???? I say quite the opposite, as the class itself is becoming more geographically diverse, so are the interest of people. I personally know 2Ls with jobs almost in every market, with NY, Texas, and California getting the most after Chicago. And is not 1 person, I know at least of 5 people who got SAs at each of those states.Kilpatrick wrote:Chicago is the only city we place in. I got straight ding with similar numbers last yearNiccoloA wrote:Chance with 166/3.6?
That's my hope. I know that those numbers would have gotten me auto-reject last year.ScrabbleChamp wrote:Who knows this year with the scandal and such. That could be big money or a straight denial. Nobody knows.NiccoloA wrote:Chance with 166/3.6?
