Thanks for the encouragement. Living in Chicago would be great so I wouldn't mind Loyola or DePaul... guess we'll see if any of my reaches land like Northwestern, Michigan, etc.

As for Penn State, no idea what happened. I'm racking my brain to remember if i sent the wrong essay for something? I wasn't aware they'd just reject you to yield protect, I thought they'd WL you first.

You can check your transmitted application on LSAC to verify. If it's just that, then I wouldn't worry. Your LSAT score deserves a place like WUSTL

I think I am going to do the March 30th one. I have a question though. I was admitted February 3rd and I thought I read something about a package with a flash drive from UIUC. Did anyone else get this and if so how long did it take?

Keep in mind UIUC has one of the best activities and recreation centers in the country, which you are realllly going to need once you start law school to just stretch out and kill your emotions on the track. Plus they have events like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo2ZxzIh9Xc

Just one year out of undergrad. Tried to get a job, got a job offer for $12.00 an hour which was basically collections calling dead beats who wouldn't pay their trailer mortgages... a week into that job I apologized to them and decided to go back to school. Felt kind of like a lazy ass for not wanting to do a job like that at all, but at the same time, they call the job Financial Representative and then you are calling and harassing people to make payments. If they had just called the job what it was, never woulda had that problem. lol

Still waiting on hold. Getting a little painful because I'm 99.9% sure I'd go to Illinois with an acceptance. Them dragging this out is hindering my plans.

Have you told them that? I'm really sorry this is taking forever for you. I would give my left arm to have your LSAT score. Any chance you just had a bad LOR and could send a new one? Do you think it is your PS? Or are you certain its your GPA?

I am in the same boat as you. Splitter held at Illinois who applied late (12/5). I love the Midwest so it has always been between WashU/Illinois for me. I got antsy and scheduled a meeting/tour with them for next month just so I can talk to a person just to see what is going on/ check out the campus outside of a game day tailgate.

That's what I did, and I was admitted a week later.

I had a professional review my PS and he said it was pretty good. I don't think it is too bad. Might not jump off the page but it shouldn't hold me back. I think it is a combination of my GPA and mediocre resume. Resume shouldn't matter you'd think since I've only been out of school for like 9 months so all of my jobs are college type jobs but I'm sure it is a factor that my GPA and resume are both bad.

If I get accepted to WSTL and not Illinois, I should go to WSTL, but I really hate St. Louis so that will be a tough decision for me.

Really? I love St. Louis, it has a lot of benefits of a big city, but it is so much easier and cheaper. There are bad parts, but the area around WUSTL is really nice.

Maybe it is a lot of personal stuff that has led me to hate St. Louis. Wearing a Cubs hat, I had beer poured on my head at Busch stadium. Some surrounding fans actually pinpointed the Cardinals loser who did it and assisted in getting him ejected from the park so at least not everyone from St. Louis is a dbag! Haven't checked out that part around WSTL. I will pending an acceptance.

I'm going to send Jenny from UIUC an LOCI... maybe a bit premature but it'll make me feel better at least. lol

No it's not premature at all! I was sending LOCIs, an updated resume, and visited just to convey my sincerity.

What do you think the best way to go with your LOCI is if nothing has changed with your application worth mentioning? Just to express an undying love for UIUC and its programs, faculty, and environment?

I sent in an LOCI after my file was put on hold and aside from telling them about my updated grades and whatnot, I really just focused on why Illinois is my top choice; very similar to what I wrote in the Why Illinois? essay.

It may sound silly but I'd say pour your heart out. Distinguish yourself and show how you can make a difference as a student and in the legal community as an attorney. Finally if you have acceptances let them know you'd withdraw and deposit immediately if granted admission.

In other news I'm 70% confident I'll be going to UIUC barring a miracle from a higher ranked school or an offer I couldn't refuse from a T1.

Anyone going to the CA open house? I think I'll RSVP and it'd be cool to meet some fellow CA TLS'ers!

Thanks. Think I'll try that. Trying to find some specific things about their business law program that I can mention.

Yea that'll help, perhaps mention renowned faculty you'd like to study under. The idea of the LOCI is to stick out and show why you're different and better than everyone else. In the end it's a piece of persuasive writing so come off sincere and let the writing reflect how you feel.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
