I'm fairly certain my hairline has receded an inch over the course of May solely from the game that IU is playing with my application. I'm planning a trip into the admissions office on Friday if I still have no decision by then.jvaugh57 wrote: Thanks. I would think that you should be getting a decision any time, however, I know they could hold out into July (as they are still taking applications until July 31st I believe). For your sake I hope they try to hurry things along and give you a favorable decision.

So I just got back after a month long vaca. I was wait listed and sent them a LOCI and a diversity statement a while ago. No word yet.
Anything change since then? Anyone get off the WL or accept/denial from it?

Re: IU-Indianapolis Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
I went to the Admissions Office yesterday to hand deliver my LOCI and try to make some connection with the staff (idk if that would do any good but it's worth a shot) I found out more than they would tell me over the phone a few weeks ago when I was initially waitlisted. The admissions secretary (at least i think that's what her position was) said that there are about 100 of us on the WL right now, but that in previous years they may call 7-10 people before they find one that hasn't committed to someplace else. I asked how many were accepted off of the WL last year and she told me roughly 10. She also confirmed that the WL should start moving shortly after the June 1 seat deposits. I think most of this has been said on here already but not sure how much was speculation vs. fact so I thought I'd share.
I may revise my resume to reflect the changes that I outlined on my LOCI and take it in tomorrow. Face time can't hurt. Plus I'm already in Indy all week for my UG internship at the Marion County Prosecutor's office. Any questions you guys want me to ask?
Anyway hopefully we'll all have some answers within a week or two, but if the WL is anything like normal admissions decisions I probably will get a decision in late Aug. Anyone here looking at any other schools? I'm in with $$$ at Dayton, but I'd drop the Scholly in a second to stay here in Indy!

I got waitlisted to my other top school, and have sent an enrollment to my safety. So basically just waiting on Indy and the other one.

Well if they actually call 7-10 people before they find someone who hasn't already committed then our chances are probably slightly greater. In fact if you want to be incredibly optimistic, you could assume that they call 9 people who got accepted to their top dream school for every 1 person who’s dream school is McKinney and in that case according to the 100WL/10 in number we have a 100% chance haha. I’d say the true figure is somewhere in between 10% and 100%.. How is that for accuracy? Lol not trying to make light of this crappy situation that we’re in but personally I can’t beat my head against the wall thinking about it for the next month.rowdyrr wrote:So we all have a 10% chance?JustJeff375 wrote:I went to the Admissions Office yesterday to hand deliver my LOCI and try to make some connection with the staff (idk if that would do any good but it's worth a shot) I found out more than they would tell me over the phone a few weeks ago when I was initially waitlisted. To self: hakuna matata, hakuna matata, hakuna matata.....
I'm Indy or bust so I'll probably give it until mid June then begin LSAT prep...I should have started already. I wonder if that 10/100 is their quota or if that was just last year's situation. Oh well, I'll try not to over analyze.

I doubt its a hardfast answer, just the lady trying to recall a best estimate of what happened last year. she did say that right now there are about 100 people on the WL tho. I can't imagine they have a WL quota of any kind either. In their ideal situation they wouldn't have a waitlist at all because the people with better scores wouldn't be opting for other schools. I'm sure it is almost entirely based on what people decide to do as far as choosing to accept or decline acceptance into the school. I'm just hoping lots of people applied to McKinney as their safety school and get into their top school!!

The black art of law schools admissions/waitlist acceptance is a bit like trying to figure out how the Pope is picked....Do admissions officers stick each file on a pyre and wait for a certain color of smoke to emanate???
Also, I think someone on here said that they were planning to go deeper into the w/l....11?
Anyway, this is an exercis in futility. I'll quit trying to anticipate Indy's next move....for a little while.
I hope we all get in....ASAFP

Did anyone else submit an essay for the Dan Quayle scholarship? If so, has anyone heard about when the award will be granted?

So how's this for awesome? I get the alert from status check that IU has changed my application status as of 5/31. After a tense moment of praying and holding my breath I log in to see this:
Year: 2012
Program Time: Either
Degree: JD
Current Status: In Review
Current Status Date: 5/31/2012
Yup, they just refreshed the same old status. Awesome.

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!
I don't believe this BS that Indy is pulling.
1. Admission rates to law schools have significantly dropped within the last two years.
2. Wasn't it last year that they admitted people like crazy!? That's why they couldn't take all of those people off the WL....
3. I am highly annoyed.

I'm guessing at least mid-June before we hear anything or see any movement.

So the June 1 theory was just proven faulty. Friday can and went with not word from admissions one way or another.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
