They finally have a online status checker this year.

Checking in! Decided I wanted to apply yesterday and luckily they granted me an AmeriCorps fee waiver!
For the 1L taking questions, What do you think the benefits of being at GW for someone interested in Gov. work.

Well I can't really speak too much about jobs and stuff just yet, but obviously GW is right in the heart of DC. You have access to many federal government entities and organizations that you won't have anywhere else besides GULC or AU.
I know a good amount of 2Ls and 3Ls that have worked in government jobs, so the school definitely places well in those types of settings. Obviously, it's still going to be a hustle because how the market is, but it does seem like a lot of people are shifting their focus from Biglaw to government work.

what are your thoughts on the class size? i'm kind of on the fence about GWU because the class is so gigantic! does it feel that way?

First . . . there should be a longer "GW 1L Taking Questions" type thread somewhere else.
But here's a short answer: GW has great access. I'm a 2L at a Gov't Agency now. I get to handle enforcement cases, determine fines, and write the agency equivalent of judicial opinions (I interned for a Fed. judge over the summer, so basically the same thing but now very focused on a certain law/Act). DC has it all: US Attnys offices, NGOs, State/Fed courthouses, and Gov. agencies.
If that's what you want and you have no higher ranked options - GW is a great choice.

The link to the status checker in my e-mail doesn't work, and I can't find a separate link to the status checker on their website. Anyone having similar problems or know where on their website they link to the status checker?

At first it was pretty overwhelming, but the sections are broken down into sections of about 80-100. Then, civpro is broken down into sections of 35ish, and LRW is broken down into 12ish. You end up knowing people pretty well over the first month or so, and people are very into throwing happy hours a couple times a week. I still don't know TOO many people outside my own section, but there are some meet and greets.
Anyway, my point is that you still end up feeling close to people despite the large class size. There are definitely some 1Ls I'm sure I've never even seen before, but overall the class size isn't bad because of how they are broken down.

This year's class size is smaller than last year's. I think it's somewhere around 475 this year and last year it was closer to 530.

Yeah I agree, it is a little hard to meet people outside the section because classes are all at different times so you barely see them. However, it is possible. Also the Public Interest orientation GW had helped me a lot in meeting people outside my section.
Oh and those happy hours are definitely popular.

Is anyone applying ED? If so, what seems to be the magic numbers that will get you in through binding ED?

I'm applying ED! I've read posts from a few people that have asked GWU and been told that to be competitive you need around a 3.8/168-169. This was for past cycles though.

Arizona State applicant checking in.
GW is my top choice right now hands down, but my lsat came back today a little under what I had hoped.
In reality, how much chance do I have with a 3.65/160 & 164 and does ED help or hurt my chances? Or anything else that can help??

Has anyone else NOT received the status checker email? I applied seven days ago, and still nothing.
Also, for those applying ED, on the section where you choose what type of application, the options were "Regular Decision" and "Special." I picked special assuming that it meant ED. Was I right?
