This is my top choice, and not just because my fiance was conviced by the travel brochure-esque recruiting catalogue.

Did anyone else apply on or before 10/1?

I applied on 10/1. Nothing yet. Do we know if they wait on paper copies before completing files?

Haha we are all applying to a lot of the same schools! I have not heard anything from them, I'm waiting on an October score though.

I don't know that either, but I'll try to find out!

I withdrew from the Oct LSAT because I lagged on preparation, just like last time, and didn't think my score would improve. I decided to go for early decisions instead.

Just out of curiosity, did you 2 apply to Seattle U or ASU? Those were my other 2. My fiance really wants to move to Portland though, so I'm considering applying to Willamette as a backup to L&C. That should be all (hopefully).

Don't go to Willamette. If you are going to apply to WIllamette, apply to Oregon instead. It's about an hour farther from Portland (a little under two hours total), but is a much better school, less expensive, and in a more tolerable town. Portland > Eugene > Salem.

Good luck everyone! I am thinking about applying too. I'm going to go to a local DC event for the school next week I think.

If anyone has any Oregon legal market questions, I can help. I'm a Salem native and grew up with a mom working for the Marion County courts.

While I agree with the above poster regarding Eugene being a generally better town to live in than Salem, Willamette has an incredibly strong alumni network in Salem. Being that it is in the capital, depending on what type of law you are looking to go into, I wouldn't pass it up without some research for UofO. Eugene is also nothing to write home about in terms of the size of the city, whereas Salem is actually an easy jaunt to downtown Portland and especially the suburbs. We went there all the time in high school and I have to say, living in DC suburbs now, it took me about the same time to get to downtown Portland as it now takes me to hop on a metro and get anywhere in DC.

I got my status checker email too. I love that it was the first one I got.

I'm going to a L&C event in Phoenix later this month, too.

As for Willamette, thanks for the insight. I'm thinking of it as a backup because I'm pretty confident I could do well there, it's in the state capital, and I wouldn't mind commuting from the south side of Portland. Eugene just seems too far from everything, and it reminds me of UC Davis.

I don't think that's a very good comparison - Davis (population 80,000) is within 15 minutes of Sacramento (City: 500,000; Metro: 1.4 million) and 1 hour from the San Francisco Bay Area (population 7+ million).

Maybe the cities of Davis and Eugene are similar, but the surroundings are quite different in terms of population centers.

Distance-wise Eugene seems really far, but compared to some morning drives in a lot of larger cities with intense traffic, having to drive to Portland really isn't that bad in terms of time.

So I went to the ASU Law Fair here in Phoenix yesterday to talk to the L&C admissions about any sort of edge I can get. Tracy Sullivan of the admissions staff was there and said to write a letter about how L&C is my top choice and how my fiance and I want to move to Portland. She says she'll add it to my app and that it should help. If any of you are borderline like me (low UG GPA), it wouldn't hurt to call admissions and ask if you can do the same. Good luck people.

I put in an app on Oct 2nd or something like that. I have a status checker, but nothing had changed as of the last time I looked. I am not obsessively checking all my statuses umpteenbajillion times per day.

Some of my top choices are L&C, Oregon, and Seattle U. Which tends to have the best employment outlook for the Northwest? If it helps, I'd like to become a prosecutor one day.

Pretty in love with this school from everything I have seen. Just wish I could convince myself it's worth sticker price with pretty much no hope for schollys.
