hey everyone! Congratulations to all of those admitted and attending! I would love to put my deposit down at W&L for the fall but i received zero scholarship money and 60k a year is pretty steep lol That being said, has anyone had any luck negotiating with W&L this cycle? Thanks!

Naw.

I'm lucky enough to be from the general area so everyone I know thinks it's the bees knees, lol.
before applying i didn't know about it either, and I'm from Richmond Va. While growing up the best schools in the area that I heard about were uva, w&m, and richmond..w&l for some reason didn't make the short list

This x10. Although anyone in the legal community I've talked to knows W&L is a great place to be.

People have posted that W&L doesn't really negotiate. I don't know if that's true, but you should try regardless and post back to update us on your results.

If that 60k/yr is going to be all debt for you, I would advise a retake. 180k debt before compounding and loan fees is serious.

The US Attorney and assistant in my hometown both have JDs from W&L and sing its praises.

In other news, found my apartment today. \o/

Twitty said at an admitted students weekend that they generally dont negotiate at all...but that after the deposit deadline has passed and they have a better idea of the people attending they might have more money to dole out

Hello all, and congratulations to those that have already been accepted to W&L! :D

I am currently on the wait list for W&L and have my fingers and toes crossed that I get in off of the wait list; it is my first choice in schools and it seems like a miracle that I even made it on the wait list at this point! Has anyone here been accepted off the wait list yet?

I'm not sure if anyone has or hasn't, but the first deposit deadline is May 1st. So i'm assuming there will be some waitlist movement after that.

i actually called the school a few weeks ago and asked this and they said it wont be til june or july when we get information like that, they probably want to wait until after the second deposit deadline before they start giving out stuff like that

Does anyone know how much full-tuition scholarship covers here at W&L? Is it like $40k/ yr or more than that? I'm just curious...

no one on lsn has more than 120k so it seems like 40k a year is the max

Tuition is 42 and change, so 40 is pretty much full

Like others have said I think max is 120k over three years. Tuition is 42/k a year for 2012-2013, and one can reasonably expect that tuition is going to increase between 2-3k a year. So with the maximum scholarship awarded, a student still has to cover 6-10k in tuition over 3 years on top of COL.

I know that during the open house weekend Brett mentioned that after the deposit deadline when they get a better understanding of who they will have in the class there might be more money available to increase scholarhships....should I broach this subject with him now or wait until after the second deposit??

+1 I would like to know this as well.

(P.S. mcdeeremitch: Looks like we're in the same boat between W&L and Fordham WL. Recognized you from the other post. Best of luck to you!)

so i just requested a gradplus loan and was approved..i am soo excited..i was actually worried about this since a few hiccups from a couple of years ago that ive been paid off, but anyway, the financial aid office told me they took care of the paper work and stuff but not til july and i didnt want to wait til july to find out if i was denied and would only have a month to get my stuff together and appeal so i went to studentloans.gov and did it myself..took 5 seconds for the results..just sharing this news in case someone else wanted to go ahead and apply as well.

Does anyone know how many deposits were actually made this year?? The Class of 2015 FB group is huge (for W&L), but I know current students are on there as well...

There are currently 91 comments on the "where are you from" post; some of those are duplicates but it's pretty close to that.

Hi so I've had a change of plans involving W&L Law, but not before I secured a lovely 2 BR 1 Bath apartment in Lexington. It is above the men's shop Alvin Dennis which is on the corner of Washington and Jefferson Streets, directly across from the main W&L campus and a ten minute walk to the law school. Cannot beat the location. PM me here for more details if interested and you have not yet found housing. If you know of any other incoming law students who still need housing, please let me know via PM as well and I can coordinate with them via email. Thanks.

Anyone know what's with all of these people (on the fb page) "unexpectedly" deferring for a year?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
