Re: IU - Bloomington Class of 2015
Hey all, definitely don't want to spam your board but anyone coming to spring law day this weekend should definitely plan to attend the Maurer Masquerade on Saturday night! It's informal and at a bar that's walking distance from campus. Not sure if you'll be able to get the $5 tickets at SLD, but it's definitely worth the $10 cover charge if you can't. Just a heads up because a lot of last year's incoming students missed it!

I mean, think about it, do you want to be on an Ad Comm. now? IU did take longer than other folks to respond to me via email, but at least it happened. Plus, IU's gorgeousness off-sets the mean vibes.BarcaCrossesTheAlps wrote:Hey. Yeah, I handed in the residency form. Everything is good to go.
I am a little gun-shy about contacting law school admissions offices, though. I contacted Colorado over the same basic "problem" and received a pretty terse email in reply. Not rude, but very short in tone, basically saying, "We are busy. Everything is fine. Don't contact us again. Thanks." Lol...
I'll wait till mid-week before I contact Indiana...
Yeah, I wasn't fazed by it, really. I was just a little surprised by UC's terseness. I have had contact with a few law school admissions, always with a pleasant and friendly feel. (Wisconsin and Ohio State, especially. VERY nice folks over email and the phone!)
I just wanted to give Indiana a little more time. I actually skipped the "complete" status and jumped to "In Review" today when I checked. So patience was a virtue this time. AFA UC.... still "incomplete." I'm gonna have to keep my eye on that one. But, I have a friend who applied before me and he still has the same incomplete status, so they are apparently slow.
Anyway, here's hoping to get into Indiana!

For those of you going to Spring Law Day, what's everyone doing tomorrow night? I'm not staying in the same hotel as everyone else.

How about we meet in the hilton garden inn lobby (since it sounds like most people are staying there) at 9 and find a bar? IU/UK game tips off at 9:45 ET.
K Rock - You find any reasonably priced (while also not being shady) hotels? I still need to book mine.

Eh, bring him. Even if it's 21+, see if they can mark his hands with giant black X's and tell them he's our DD.northside wrote:What age are the bars in bloomington? I really want to hang out with you guys but my tag-along boyfriend is a few weeks shy of 21.

<1% chance of them letting him in if he is under 21. I would not count on it since what happened after last summerTommyK wrote:.northside wrote:What age are the bars in bloomington? I really want to hang out with you guys but my tag-along boyfriend is a few weeks shy of 21.

Haha you men get to stay out late Friday night but the women have to attend the IU Womens Law Breakfast at 7:30 AM on Saturday.
I'm still going to see what I can do. My boyfriends got some friends at IU. I'll see if I can pawn him off on them and have a beer with you guys haha.

Most of the the places in Bloomington were booked when I looked yesterday. I'm staying like 30 minutes outside of Bloomington actually but it should be a little cheaper.TommyK wrote: K Rock - You find any reasonably priced (while also not being shady) hotels? I still need to book mine.

THIS. I live about 45 minutes away (which means with parking will have to leave at 6:30 am - and in girl time this means getting up at 5) so probably no bar tomorrow for me, which is too bad because normally I love anything BigTen sports + beer related.northside wrote:Haha you men get to stay out late Friday night but the women have to attend the IU Womens Law Breakfast at 7:30 AM on Saturday.

Is this the plan? If so, I'll be there. We should all go get dinner beforehandTommyK wrote:How about we meet in the hilton garden inn lobby (since it sounds like most people are staying there) at 9 and find a bar? IU/UK game tips off at 9:45 ET.

Doesn't look like I'll be making it after all. Drink one for me. I'll see everybody in the Fall.

Tommy--sorry we're going to miss you. It's absolutely beautiful here (not sure if you've visited before but I hadn't).
Unless something is arranged for dinner pretty soon, I'm just going to go alone and be back in the lobby at 9 to meet/find a bar for the game.
I am excited to explore Bloomington!

It was awesome--very informative and the people who ran it were extremely friendly, helpful, and seemingly honest. I fell in love with Bloomington/IU and my visit this weekend helped me make my decision. I will be attending this fall

Hmmm. Judging by the graph on the first page, most people still waiting after the 1st are getting dinged. Also, it looks like virtually no one makes it off the WL. Oh, well. Good luck to all!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
