NU Apps '11-'12 - Good Luck Hold Candidates!!!! <3 Forum

I was only interested in part-time at Lewis & Clark. I literally applied to 5 other schools, totally for shits-n-giggles, chosen purely by the fact that they gave me fee waivers and had environmental law concentrations so my PS wouldn't need changin. (I'm not even looking at environmental law anymore.)

I did so many things wrong from LSAT prep to optional essays, I can't believe how lucky I was. If my NU acceptance hadn't arrived before the one I was anticipating from L&C , I don't know wtf I would have decided. In all honesty, I only started seriously considering going somewhere else because I was pissed that L&C was making me wait so long with my numbers!

Then, I dunno what happened, but Northwestern grabbed me and held on somehow and I was hooked.

Did you catch that thread several months ago where LSAC hosted a Q&A session with some law school deans? They showed four real applicants to GW (with identifying information changed) and discussed the reasons for their decisions. All were denys and all were horrendous applications. I think only one person had numbers that were anything resembling competitive at GW (but still under both medians IIRC) and that person had like five alcohol-related arrests over the previous four years. I'd go back and find the thread, but the apps are likely down now. So, yeah, I think it's safe to say that law schools (especially the higher-ranked schools) get a lot of apps from auto-rejects.

It baffles me how some people make no attempt to even take a passing glance at TLS. It is literally one of the first things, if not the first depending what you search for, that pops up when Googling info on law schools.

After deciding I wanted to go the law school route finding this site was pretty much the first thing I did. I <3 you TLS.

I would not have met so many great friends and acquaintances in the field of law without TLS. I'd probably be paying sticker for a ranked-100 school in an over-saturated market without TLS.

No, Dean Rodriguez has other things on his mind right now. I think he's going to spend the next 3-4 months almost only getting the administrative stuff under wraps. He probably approved the new scholly program though, but I doubt he thought it up.

Plus, he hasn't actually started there yet. Does anyone know how much law school deans direct the admissions practices of their schools? They're still beholden to the board of trustees or whatever, no?
