Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
So when did all of these DLS statuses appear? Late afternoon- early evening? Perhaps the adcom makes a final review/vote on people throughout the day, creating a queue of accepts and DLS. DLS statuses and the letters themselves are sent at closing time, and accepts are then called the next morning when the office is open and it's regular business hours on the east coast as well. Might we see a few URM admits tomorrow morning?

URM. 1/30.
no call so probably a rejection.
I'm relieved that my cycle has finally come to an end and I can make my final decision.

Ohhh no. I wasn't implying that at all. I was just saying it's not the end of the world that you didn't get in there! I'm sure there's plenty of other great places you've gotten into!Mista Bojangles wrote:I wouldn't think it negatively affected my application, if that's what you're suggesting. If you take away my IDF service, I would essentially become a fairly stock K-JD with the same numbers, from a strong UG heading straight to law school. Would my application have been better received in that case? Impossible to say - but I'd certainly hope that's not the case, and I hate the idea that admissions people might let personal political biases contaminate their decision making process. I'd like to think that admissions people at a place like SLS wouldn't be prone to that kind of thing. Of course, there's no way of ever knowing, so I certainly would give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that my IDF service was, at worst, a net neutral factor.ned wrote:Unfortunately this is the deal in most elite schools. Not just the bay area. Let's just keep it at thatAspen wrote:No offense to the applicant but an "Israeli sniper" would probably feel out of place in the Bay Area anyway. We're probably one of the parts of the country that's most against the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. Maybe I've just spent too much time in Marin, SF and Berkeley but that's how I've perceived it at least. I'm really not trying to start some argument over Israel but it's just an interesting/different part of the politics and social movements of the Bay Area.jim-green wrote:Then why are they rejecting Israeli snipers with 179s?
(On the side - this may seem like a minor, nitpicking distinction but it's actually a significant one in military lingo: I was a sharpshooter, not a sniper. No need to explain the difference here but Wikipedia can easily, if you'd like)
I certainly didn't come here to argue about Israel either though, so I may as well bow out of the thread and wish בהצלחה (success) to those of you still standing.

So with 11 days left, there can't be too many applicants still standing... right? Maybe 300... I like this number, just like the Spartans.

We're probably not going to be hearing much while the admissions folks are busy with ASW, anyways...

I thought it was today...hmm. Well even then, I think they could use ASW registration to predict who's going to withdraw and give out one or two.sharktankdean wrote:but isn't tomorrow the beginning of ASW?yepyepyep wrote:I think tomorrow will be the last day. Well whoever's on Stanford adcom should know that we all are just as excited to give them our deposit money whether or not we're admitted before ASW.

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I think if we were definitely rejected/waitlisted there would be no reason to hold onto our apps unless there is also a chance that we could still be accepted. tbh, I don't need asw to make a decision in this case... just need a phone call and tell me where to sign.yepyepyep wrote:I thought it was today...hmm.
