No. They won't know for a few weeks.neuroticjew wrote:Well, Chicago's deposit deadline is Monday and Stanford may not get back to me for another two weeks at this rate. If I send Chicago a check will Stanford find out and blackball me?

I don't think schools can/would track where you send deposits. They don't expect to gamble your other options away while awaiting a decision.adam1 wrote:No. They won't know for a few weeks.neuroticjew wrote:Well, Chicago's deposit deadline is Monday and Stanford may not get back to me for another two weeks at this rate. I didn't mean to suggest that they would care. But they have no way of knowing at all until after May 1 if I recall. Ned says schools don't track/share deposit info. Adam says they do? Which one is correct, and how is this shared: through LSAC or some common database?adam1 wrote:I didn't mean to suggest that they would care. It's through LSAC after May 15. Scroll all the way down:jim-green wrote:Ned says schools don't track/share deposit info. Adam says they do? Yeah, I didn't realize that they did this: "Beginning May 15 each year, these reports now also include the names and LSAC account numbers for all candidates who have deposits/commitments at multiple participating schools."acappella wrote:It's through LSAC after May 15. So they'll know where you plan on going if you don't get taken off their wait list. And schools receiving your deposits will know where else you might choose to go. The only impact I can imagine is, they won't take people off the wait list who got in to Y or H, since those people are less likely to attend S.

No, and lsac specifically advises schools to not participate in this type of thing.neuroticjew wrote:Well, Chicago's deposit deadline is Monday and Stanford may not get back to me for another two weeks at this rate. If I send Chicago a check will Stanford find out and blackball me?

Wow the entire nature of a DLS just changed. Maybe they sent out all the WL's last week then. Or maybe early next week's DLS's will be waitlists. Maybe they've stopped accepting people now. Interesting...salamanders wrote:Sorry, no inside admissions info in my letter. Ned, not sure yet!ddalton22 wrote:Does it say they are no longer accepting people? Some DSL'd folks called admissions this past week and confirmed they were rejected.yepyepyep wrote:

Yeah I just meant that, since this person got a DLS first and then a WL, DLS no longer means just rejection.ned wrote:Some DSL'd folks called admissions this past week and confirmed they were rejected.yepyepyep wrote:

Having reviewed this again, I'm not sure that Stanford will know anything of your depositing unless you have made "deposits/commitments" to multiple schools. Am I confused?ned wrote:It's through LSAC after May 15. Scroll all the way down:acappella wrote:Ned says schools don't track/share deposit info. Adam says they do? Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Yeah, it does specifically say "multiple", as though people who submit only a "single" deposit are not reported. I interpret it this way: Schools that receive your deposit are informed of all the schools that have received deposits from you. Schools that don't have a deposit from you aren't informed of your deposit activities. A very sound dating policy.adam1 wrote:Having reviewed this again, I'm not sure that Stanford will know anything of your depositing unless you have made "deposits/commitments" to multiple schools. Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Question for y'all: I have a new professional item to add to my resume. It's basically just an upgrade to a position I hold at a research lab, and also the lab was upgraded to a "Center". My activities haven't changed very much, but it's still a "new development" so I want to inform my schools.
Should I send a new copy of my resume with that one extra item added to it, or should I just send a note about the new upgrades without a new resume? If I send a whole new resume, how do I draw their attention to the new item?

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I think they'd be about the same, but I'd probably send the addendum. I imagine if you sent a new resume, they would also keep the old one (so that they would still know that you sent something new and they'd be able to see where it changed, and you would still get the credit for being interested). But an addendum probably is less risky in that you can talk around it a bit (what you're doing now), add a bit about Stanford, and then they'd know for sure you've sent something new and worked on it. But that's just my 2cents...what do I know really.ned wrote:Question for y'all: I have a new professional item to add to my resume. Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Hey guys, so I will be applying next cycle, SLS would a dream come true as I think it would be for anyone. I figured being as you are fresh off of/still applying you are the perfect group to ask about next year as of now.
My question deals with whether or not to apply early in fall, or wait until better gpa after fall grades post. I know this is an often discussed topic on TLS but wanted to know about SLS specifically as maybe some of you made this decision this cycle.
My potentially best gpa if applying in fall would be 3.67/3.68 I forgot the exact number, but applying after dec grades would be 3.72 (praying). Looking at numbers, it appears this is a significant difference being this could put me from below 25th percentile to at it. How would you suggest handling this? Submitting early? Submitting after fall grades (in December) or submitting early than updating with new grades (can you even do that?)
I know this question doesn't necessarily belong in this thread but anyone who has some advice, it would be appreciated and given much weight.

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Since I made a similar jump in GPA from end of last year to end of first semester, I can say-- I doubt it matters. I applied early, got soft held, submitted my first semester grades, and still haven't heard. But if you're worried about getting flat rejected instantly, you might as well wait. That GPA (like mine) obviously isn't near auto-admit, so you won't hear from Stanford until the spring regardless.Br3v wrote:Hey guys, so I will be applying next cycle, SLS would a dream come true as I think it would be for anyone. You should definitely apply when you're ready to submit. You're probably not going to be rejected before you get a chance to submit your fall grades anyway.Br3v wrote:Hey guys, so I will be applying next cycle, SLS would a dream come true as I think it would be for anyone.
