Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Looking at LawSchoolNumbers data from last cycle the average wait from "sent" to "acceptance" was 56 days. The median wait was 54 days. That was for acceptances.
If you submitted on 9/15 you are not far past median. It is not time to freak out. I go a little against conventional wisdom. I think if you can have a substantive conversation with an admissions official OR have a student recommend you, it could help a lot.

No one should be freaking out at this point...past median or not. Michigan takes time, the wait is not at all related to you odds.thelaststraw05 wrote:Looking at LawSchoolNumbers data from last cycle the average wait from "sent" to "acceptance" was 56 days. This. Northwestern hasn't made any movement yet. So frustrating.blowhard wrote:No one should be freaking out at this point...past median or not. Yes. My issue for not wanting to live in Nashville has little to do with the city itself. My job has had me working on some stuff in the Nashville area and, from what I've come across, I wouldn't ever want to live there.splbagel wrote:Nashville no, Ann Arbor yes? Just curious, have you visited either city?ScrabbleChamp wrote:Nope. I couldn't live in Nashville.
ETA: It's similar to friends you may have had that worked at (insert restaurant name here) who say they'll never eat at (insert restaurant name here).

I'd imagine it helps at all kinds of schools, but I know it helps at Michigan.freestallion wrote:Do you think this helps only at michigan or other schools too?thelaststraw05 wrote: I think if you can have a substantive conversation with an admissions official OR have a student recommend you, it could help a lot.
I wasn't suggesting freaking out. I specifically said, "It is not time to freak out."blowhard wrote: No one should be freaking out at this point...past median or not. Michigan takes time, the wait is not at all related to you odds.
But Dean Z has said that the a positive word can make all the difference. I know one student who was having a tough decision because of scholarship money. After an outlaws event during an admitted students weekend, one of the current students talked to Dean Z about that applicant. Dean Z sought her out during ASW and increased her scholly award to get her to come.
She is now a 1L at Michigan.
Dean Z specifically said to let her know if we meet any applicants who seemed especially awesome during tours or discussions during class visits.

My apologies, carry on. BTW, I would be interested to figure out who you are in real life as you gave good advice last year too.blowhard wrote: I wasn't implying you were encouraging freaking out...just adding to it and quoting you to keep the convo together.

Before people had "decision" or whatever did they see a lack of movement for a while?

Can you log into the ASW? I think its all good news until post-Christmas so if it means anything, you should be able to log in there.sandwiches5000 wrote:AHHHH My app didn't update today for the first time since last week. :[

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Aw bummer, but its the opposite. You can log-in to ASW once your are admitted, but your status checker doesn't change to "Decision" until the day of or day after you get your packet in the mail The difference for me was about 3 days and I got the packet in the mail the day before I switched to "Decision." Sorry, I can't answer the question about whether the date changed in between. I stopped checking.sandwiches5000 wrote:Well, I heard people can't log into ASW until a week before the decision comes in the mail?MumofCad wrote:Can you log into the ASW? I definitely think this has to do with why I got in so early with borderline numbers (if ASW access and "offer package mailed" means I've been accepted). The conversation did not take place at a law school forum.thelaststraw05 wrote:I think if you can have a substantive conversation with an admissions official OR have a student recommend you, it could help a lot.

did anyone else get an email from a current Michigan student recently about applying? Their application process is so personalized, it makes Michigan look very good.
