Sorry if this has been discussed before, but does anyone have a sense of whether people admitted off the waitlist ever get substantial merit aid?

I've already been admitted to schools I prefer to UVA, but I'm tempted to stay on the wait list on the off-chance that they end up offering me aid that I could use to negotiate with schools that match (ie Berkeley).

This has to be yield based.

Waitlisted - not a surprise - 173/3.23/OOS/no why-UVA (it was 2 am and I was lazy). I will be writing a why-UVA and sending it this evening.

I gotta assume... I didn't write a Why Virginia, so it kinda makes sense. But still.

WL today as well... median GPA, above 75 LSAT, but OOS and nothing UVA-specific.

Wow, haven't been following this thread much, and just popped in to see several pages of WL havoc. I'm sorry to hear it, guys!
Are WLs still in progress? I haven't gotten mine yet (Oct submitter) and I'm trying to figure out whether this is good or bad news. Out of state (well, out of country) and wrote a Why UVA.

There has been some good news in the midst of the WL havoc. I was also an Oct. submitter, and I got in Wed. (Out of state, wrote a why uva) I think Virginia is moderately unpredictable- don't lose hope until they give you a reason to. :)

Also, sorry to see so many awesome people getting WL!!! I hope that (if you actually want Virginia) they take a lot of people off of the list.

yeah, i'd imagine weekends aren't business days. i also wouldn't hold schools religiously to the 14 day rules. that's a tough one to follow, and these places are more laid back than a law firm.

Waitlist 177, 3.65.

If UVa wasn't third on my list, I'd withdraw. Already in at NYU and Duke.

Look at its LSN graph, UVa ALWAYS does a lot of YPing. It's always a WL bloodbath.

The real UVA cycle begins after you've been waitlisted. Do you want it badly enough to ED? Are you going to roll the dice and hope you're one of the few taken off the WL?

UVA, Y U no love me? I don't have nice numbers like all these other folks. I've got the numbers you like. They're sub-par. And I'd be lucky to have you. Please call me.

Thanks,

E

I'd offer to to trade you UVA for Michigan but I like not wearing 3 layers of clothes for half the year :D
