I think you should hold off for a week or two. Sounds like I submitted / got status checker a week before you, and I was accepted Thursday. I don't think you should do a LOCI unless you are like waitlisted or held (does UVA do that?) or ignored for 1-2 more weeks. And I would consider your PS a "why uva". In case you did not know, apparently at UVA you can ED at any time, so just an option to consider if it is your first choice.CattyPake wrote:Got a status checker 11/15 and I've been in review for a while. My numbers (169/166, 3.68) aren't that strong so I'm wondering if writing a LOCI or Why UVA would help at this point. I sort of did a Why UVA essay but that was incorporated into my PS so it wasn't as long as a seperate statement.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Scholarship wasn't mentioned when I talked on the phone, so I'm assuming that my initial offer is zero. Looking at my stats and the schools I've gotten in so far, is there any hope to negotiate or ask for any merit money? Even a couple thousand a year would effectively eliminate interest on the loans. I can't commit to saying that I will attend as my fiance has not been accepted into their grad program, so I can't even promise them anything. I am worried that if I wait to negotiate there might not be money left

Thanks! I guess UVA is being slow and doing acceptances in random spurts but damn I wish they would just give me an answer already, even if it is Waitlisted.
(Wonders if I jinxed myself by mentioning the WL)

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Submitted 10/25, and have yet to hear anything. A lot of people who've applied before and after have been accepted or rejected according to LSN. I sent in a short email speaking of my continued interest, since this isn't a school I'd be willing to ride that waitlist out (since that would mean attending at sticker basically).

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I was waitlisted off an ED today (which certainly doesn't make me feel good).
Stats were 165/3.85
Didn't feel great about my LSAT after I took it. Thinking about skipping this cycle, retaking in June, and applying September 1st.
Anyone wish to offer advice?

Since you've already applied, you might as well wait your cycle out, but this is always a good plan, IMO. If you could get a 17X with that GPA, you'd be looking at a shot at HYS and T6 secure.nbj08 wrote:I was waitlisted off an ED today (which certainly doesn't make me feel good).

A higher LSAT will help, but might as well finish the cycle and see how it goes. Hopefully your GPA is strong enough to get you in somewhere good.nbj08 wrote:I was waitlisted off an ED today (which certainly doesn't make me feel good).

From what I can tell UVA has only given out RD acceptances so far, correct? No RD waitlists or dings?
Edit: Nevermind, LSN indicates that there have been some RD dings, though not waitlists.

You think? Looks like last cycle it started on 1/24 and there was another big one in early March.Nelson wrote:A big wave of WLs is coming any day now...crumpledq wrote:From what I can tell UVA has only given out RD acceptances so far, correct? No RD waitlists or dings?

Who knows with this weird cycle but I thought I saw there were some in December last year. Maybe those were ED deferrals? Either way, they're going to have to send a bunch of WLs at some point given the number of people who haven't heard anything since September.crooked wrote:You think? So, why would UVA just send me a merit fee waiver? Are applications down? Or are they just trying improve their numbers with an additional rejection?

Most likely the aforementioned, but if you have stellar numbers I am sure they will consider; I'm not particularly sure how much financial assistance one could expect from such a circumstance.aladdinismyprince wrote:So, why would UVA just send me a merit fee waiver? Why would UVA email me to say that they need to talk with me about my application?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
