It could be that they are just getting a majority of the waitlist/deferments/rejections out of the way before a big wave of acceptances. Or they could have a big pool of RD applicants they like (and given the nature of their status checker, we have no idea who is under review or when people went UR). My hunch is that it is a combination of all three factors, and we'll probably just have to be patient and see what happens (a tough task, I know haha).
That's true, it's really hard to make any deductions without any data. Regardless, I guess I'm going to have to learn patience ;/

167/3.7 URM deferred? Columbia's admissions really confuses me.... I guess welcome to the deferred club, maybe we'll have better luck in April (I doubt it though)

I was definitely expecting rejection, so I am surprised. And thanks...hopefully we will.

The deferral letter stated that if I wish to remain a candidate, I must forward the fall transcript by March. Is there a differing grade request letter that keeps you ED?

Yes, there are deferrals and then grade requests. Entirely separate.

no word, ED, submitted at deadline, I'm actually checking my spam folder to make sure I didn't miss a message. I guess no news is good news, but . . . probably not very good news.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

In at Columbia, 171, 3.69 ED, submitted 11/11/2011 and complete 11/17/2011.

Admitted on 12/5 but only found out today: my NYU status checker changed to "application withdrawn from consideration," so of course I call to figure out what's going on. NYU emailed me back to let me know that it's because I had been accepted to another school ED. Called Columbia today to find out that the email never got to me.

Tl;dr - don't give up hope ED applicants! (and talk to the admissions people, they're very helpful)

Weird... I know URM cycles are unpredictable, but I would think a 167/3.6 URM would be accepted to Columbia ED. Well, best of luck!

Anyone think more ED decisions will be out today? Found out I'm in at NYU and Cornell this week, but would love to hear back from Columbia!

Apparently last year people were hearing on the 23, so there's no telling how late they'll wait this year.

It's a weird feeling of limbo, since they seem to have accepted and rejected people in equal measure, and not in any huge waves. I have no clue how to feel about going so long without an answer.

Fall grade request, which will hurt me. Lame.

I'm RD.

Onward to Monday. This person (http://lawschoolnumbers.com/TamiTaylor/jd) reported an acceptance earlier today, unfortunately without a decision date, so maybe there was another trickle of ED decisions.

So, I caved and decided to send a Why X to another school promising to go if accepted. It looks like I'm pretty much out at Columbia, good luck to the rest of you!

Shouldn't give up until there's a wave of deferrals, man. Keep a stiff upper lip.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
