Welcome! It's kind of weird...this silence before all the neuroticism and stupid questions begin.

This is off topic but I am interested in SMU and plan to take this coming October LSAT. I was hoping yall would tell me what your GPA and LSAT is so I can gauge if I should hold off until the next LSAT.

You're right. It is off topic. But we're a friendly bunch. This year it looks like Full-Time auto-admits were 165 LSAT and roughly 3.6+ GPA. Part-Time is 160+ and GPA isn't as important, unless you're fresh out of undergrad.

You'll want a 165 LSAT and a GPA with a 3 in front of it to be comfortable with SMU. They focus more on the LSAT than GPA.

Also, be sure that you get your application in early (like, mid-November at the latest) if at all possible. The early bird often gets the acceptance, plus the scholly money.

PS - I'm a current 1L at SMU.

I applied with a 168 and a 3.26 on the 15th of Sept. Very nervous. I wish there were something I could do about that GPA.
I haven't received any kind of an email or anything to confirm receipt of the application, but my LSAC account says the application is complete.

SMU is going to love that 168. But don't expect to hear for awhile.

You'll be in with money, but it will take a while to get notified.

I love all the positive feedback. SMU is my reachy-target school.

This shouldn't be a reach-target. With that 168 and gpa above 3 you are going to get in with money.

Also I am a 1L at SMU. Your LSAT is better then mine and SMU is all about the LSAT. Get ready for some money but also don't be afraid to shoot higher in terms of your reaches.

Clutch, do you mind if I ask...
How long did it take SMU to notify you of your acceptance?
Is it a very religious school? Any kind of a service on campus?

I applied a couple days after the early decision deadline. I actually intended to be considered as a regular decision. I forget the date but I was admitted in that first big wave of admits including the early decision applicants. I am sure you can search last years forum and see what that date was...or search my post since I know I posted on the day I got in.

Its not religious at all. There is a beautiful methodist church on corner of campus and that is about as religious as it gets. There is of course the Christian Lawyers Society and that kind of stuff but that will be a choice by the person to join. If you have any other questions feel free to pm me.

You won't get notified until the end of January, give or take a couple weeks.

To apply ED do we just get the app in before November 1? Or is there somewhere on the app where we indicate we want to apply early decision?

I'm pretty sure it just has to be postmarked by Nov. 1.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
