In other news, I want to send Stanford something to update my file, but don't know what. I've been out of school for a bit, so it was hard enough just to drum up two LORs--I'm not counting on getting someone to write me a third. My boss knows I'm leaving in a few months, so I'm definitely not getting promoted or anything. And I already wrote one LOCI a few weeks ago. Hmm. Thoughts?
What my advisors have been telling me is that unless you have a really compelling reason why they should accept specifically you that wasn't in your original application, the LOCI is really sort of just a check mark to make sure you cared enough to send something in.
If you already sent one less than six weeks (totally arbitrary length), I would say that with nothing new to update, you'd be safe to just not do anything and might even appear too desperate by sending another one. Dean Deal said in her blog post (around christmastime I think?) that, while she appreciates updates, she doesn't want us cluttering up her inbox.
