Withdrawing should require some verification right?

I inquired from a school via an email address of mine that they do not have on file as to what would be the best way to withdraw my application. The school responded that my email was adequate notification.
Is this normal? It seems very odd that I could withdraw an application simply by signing my name to an email that the school does not actually know is mine.

Did you actually request to be withdrawn via email? If so, it's a withdrawal.
Was this by any chance a school in Alabama?
I had a similar problem. I logged into status checker to find I was withdrawn when I had never asked to be withdrawn. Bitches didn't even have the balls to reject me? I don't get it either.
But it doesn't matter. Such a dysfunctional institution isn't worth our time anyway. Fuck 'em.

That's all it takes -- at least at many of the schools that I have applied to.

Not quite, NW was the cause for the withdrawals
I guess if you guys say its normal Ill take your word, but the other schools have replied and asked from LSAC account number.

Don't think it would help you anyway, it was the one year deferred thing.

I've always sent withdrawal emails signed with my full name and LSAC acct number. I did get an email back from one school (Northeastern, I think) asking to confirm my withdrawal - but all emails were sent to and from my address on file.
