I thought this topic would give others hope. If you were considered a "deny" by LSP (Law School Predictor) but actually got accepted to one of those schools please post about your success. Do not post if you were a "weak consider" or if you simply thought that you did not have a good chance.

Not exactly. A reach would be a school you have a chance at, albeit a slim one. "Deny" implies zero chance. So, to use the OP's words, a reach would be the "weak consider."

The "I made it into my reach" was an ambiguous post where there was a lot of liberty taken with what a "reach" was. This post has no ambiguity.

I was a Deny at Emory and got in.

Not sure how I was a deny though, because with a 3.27 167 I was above their 166 wall of death.

170/3.57--In at Berkeley. Probably owes to my PS and, to a lesser extent, my LOR's. Also, huge upward grade trend (2.x sophomore year, >3.9 last 2 years).

Held at 1 deny (FSU- 17%), waitlisted at 2 (Cinci- 29%, Wake- 13%), in with scholarship at 3 (Case $7500- 29%, Kentucky $12000- 24%, Penn State $5000- 29%), in at sticker at one other (Georgia State- 20%). Applied to 14 "denies". Non-URM.

congrats. That's almost bigger than getting drafting 5th by kansas city

Just curious, since I'm your numbers twin, what was so interesting about your PS, and did you have any softs that were exceptional?

...I almost fit in here...I was a Weak Consider at American...got my acceptance within a week of submitting my app.

Got the Red [DENY] at Columbia.

2.44/167 DENY at George Washington and got in. Another DENY at Fordham and got WLed

I was a deny at Chicago and got in. Yet I got rejected by every peer school and everything below it all the way down to Cornell, which I got into.

Shoot, makes me wish I'd taken more of a chance with my cycle. I was still scarred after the bloodbath that my undergrad applications had been, even though I do genuinely believe I now have much more to offer.

Got into 3 DENY's so far. UConn-16%, Pitt-24% and Penn State-20% ($15k). Non-URM. Strong softs.

Not really, I just thought I had a very solid overall application.

PM me if you're curious to read the PS. It's a controversial topic and I have a feeling it's why I'm on waitlists at schools all the way from Chicago to U of Washington, while other schools (GULC) loved it. It was kind of wild to get waitlisted at UCLA and U of W, then get in at Boalt.

Michigan, Cornell, UT, Vandy, USC.

WOW. This thread is awesome. It would also be really helpful for people posting to include what they think go them in so we have a good idea of who should feel hopeful (ie, someone who worked for 10 years before applying =/= same chances as someone who is still in UG)

3.06/167 Deny at Emory but got in with some scholarship money. I think a hard major and NCAA athletics helped.

16pct deny at lsp for uga, in a little over a month after submitting.

160/3.12--URM - Caribbean American, 1 yr WE, tons of public service, diversity statement and other optional essays as applicable
