IN Pepperdine 163/3.06. Not quite sure why I was a flat out deny on LSP, but there you have it.

This thread sucks. 90% of the posters are URMs and it's well known LSP sucks hairy balls at predicting URM cycles.

I mean, people post their stats and then URM, I always thought that was kind of self defeating because URM implies your numbers arent the thing getting you in - which is what LSP does.whymeohgodno wrote:This thread sucks. 90% of the posters are URMs and it's well known LSP sucks hairy balls at predicting URM cycles.

Careful, we don't need another flame ignition about URM. I'm sure there are quite a few people in this thread who weren't URM who got in places LSP said they couldn't.

Re: You were considered a"Deny" by LSP but actually got in!!!
Theres no debate. This thread should just be a testament to how inaccurate LSP is and people really shouldn't use it for more than a super rough guide to where they might apply - and if you are a splitter or URM practically disregard it as it is useless. I remember back when I hadn't even taken the LSAT/after my first try when I was figuring out what sort of score I needed with my retake, I would spend a lot of time on LSP. Its almost dangerous because it gives you a sense of false hope and it could negatively impact some people's cycles.

It's flame ignition now to say that LSP sucks at predicting URM cycles?Spookyghost wrote:Careful, we don't need another flame ignition about URM. I'm sure there are quite a few people in this thread who weren't URM who got in places LSP said they couldn't.

It's not. It does suck at predicting our cycles. It's just that it can be really discouraging to see the big, fat, red DENY next to a school you want to go to. I know that I probably wouldn't have applied to many of the schools I got into if I'd know about LSP before applying.whymeohgodno wrote:It's flame ignition now to say that LSP sucks at predicting URM cycles?Spookyghost wrote:Careful, we don't need another flame ignition about URM. So I can't make the observation that lsp is strictly numbers while urm admissions isn't without" inciting flames"? Im sorry didn't know people were that sensitive.

It's not that I am particularly sensitive, it's just that occasionally discussions along this line turn sour quickly.Sandro wrote:So I can't make the observation that lsp is strictly numbers while urm admissions isn't without" inciting flames"? Im sorry didn't know people were that sensitive.

I understand completely, just that I think it needs to be discussed the pros/cons of lsp. I've gotten into one school that I was a 16pct deny and half tuition at another weak consider- schools that to someone who didn't research on tls and lsn/lsac before hand might have never applied to because of lsp's seemingly accurate forecasts.Spookyghost wrote:It's not that I am particularly sensitive, it's just that occasionally discussions along this line turn sour quickly.Sandro wrote:So I can't make the observation that lsp is strictly numbers while urm admissions isn't without" inciting flames"? There are a handful of people who aren't URM and have still received acceptances at their LSP DENY schools.
I think the point of this thread is to uplift people. (Though we all know that law school admissions is, for the most part, heavily dependent on numbers.)
