Drexel Earle Mack - 2014
Ok blah blah everyone hates Drexel and it's a horrible investment. Take your opinions elsewhere.
What are people's status checkers looking like? Mine says App complete 12/30 and I'm thinking of calling them.

I went ahead and called. I thought the admissions person was rather snotty. Says it'll be March but wouldn't specify if that means beginning, middle or end. She says if my app says 'complete 12/30' that means it's not in review yet. I told her that I have other deposits due on April 1 so I hope it comes before the end of March and she really didn't seem to give a crap.

I was waitlisted at Drexel (3.7/156). I had to because I was accepted to UConn the same day with $$. I sent a withdrawal e-mail literally 2 minutes after I saw I was waitlisted. FU Drexel.

Re: Drexel Earle Mack - 2014
I know that everyone blathers on about how Drexel's not a good investment, etc etc, but I have a friend there who just got a clerkship for after her bar passage. So it's not IMPOSSIBLE or a TOTAL WASTE of money like some say.
I'm still actually strongly considering going, because of the money I've been offered and how much I like other students I've talked to.
But anyway....I was accepted 3.69/160 early in the cycle. Mine was an unusual case so I didn't follow status checker etc. I'm surprised someone was snotty...my experiences with them have been good so far. Hrnnnnnn.

I am in the same boat - basically a full ride at Drexel ... its quite tempting to be debt free. I'm going to the ASD (also paid for) and hoping that will help with these decisions.omarlos wrote:Drexel gave myself, and according to lawschoolnumbers, a shit ton of people a shit ton of money, if anyone else sold on drexel law? 32 is almost a full ride...I think tuition is 33,700
Rankings come out in 10 days....should be interesting to see where they fall.

Actually I have to come out of lurking to comment on this... The Scholarship and Tuition is actually based on credits taken. So in the first year when the students take 30 Credits the scholarship is worth ~32k and tuition is ~37k. In later years students typically take 27 credits the scholarship is ~28K and Tuition ~33K. You can use the scholarship for up to 90 credits but only 85 are required to graduate (or something like that). Either way the scholarship equates to ~5k per year in tuition costs (little north the first year, little south the next two, though they can raise tuition and your scholarship wont increase as well).NCtoDC wrote:+12things2 wrote:32k/year.. i guess thats a full ride? it certainly is enticing..

At least this is the way my scholarship was presented to me in the "understanding your scholarship" note included in my admission packet.
FWIW I still think it's a good value, though the difference (1,700 expected vs ~5,000) is enough to push the needle towards other offers...

Re: Drexel Earle Mack - 2014
Thank you for clarifying that. I thought it was weird the way they presented it as a per credit scholarship.
