Berkeley not CR!

Post by NorCalBruin » Mon Feb 14, 2011 7:34 pm

For those of us who:

1.) Are not CR

&

2.) Did not get the CR2 email.

AKA a support group for those hanging on in limbo... aka expecting a ding by Friday.

Post your UR dates, too.

No CR (unless the emails are still going out and I have yet to receive one). UR 1/18

Wait, so those who missed out on the "initial administrative review" "faculty blah blah" are likely to get dinged? I thought everyone who applied gets to the faculty review part, that it was just a matter of when they decide to look at your file...

It's like we're on the post-iceberg Titanic. Just waiting to drown in that cold, harsh ocean that is Berkeley. Unless of course Leonardo DiCaprio (Dean Tom) props us up on a piece of wood (waitlist) and saves us for the time being.

I'd rather have been taken out early in the game like the guy who fell on the propeller. DING!

Who knows...

We don't know for sure that we'll hear back Friday. We just know that CR1 kids will. I think there's still a shred of hope for us.

...a shred.

Even though my chances were somewhere in the neighborhood of 1% to 5% of gaining acceptance, for the past month I have enjoyed the fantasy. That ended when I did not get CR2, even though I still haven't received the official ding :(

lol can anyone answer my question? as in:

so it is NOT the case that everyone who applies gets a faculty review? If so, are there people who didn't get to that stage who were accepted? If you DO get the email, is it pretty much a done deal?

If you think you were a borderline applicant and you didn't get the email, there's a good chance it means you were in the "unlikely to be accepted by committee" pile, and you're getting a ding. If you were a strong applicant and you didn't get CR, it means you were in the "likely to be accepted by committee" pile, and you're getting an admit. When you're in either the "likely" or "unlikely" pile I think you just go straight to a ding/admit. Perhaps I am mistaken?

As a (purely by numbers) under par candidate, I find it disconcerting that I did not receive a CR email, and I expect a ding in the near future.

+ 1. I was hoping a good personal statement, a few interesting softs, and a passionate LOCI would make up for my numbers (3.5/172), but guess not...damn.

I was dinged last night. Berkeley's rejection email was nicer than some of the acceptance emails I've gotten.
