Discuss.

Stats? Writing a Why Chicago? Other top choices? Withdrawing? Etc.

Hmm... tagging this thread.
For me:
Stats: 160/172 retake, 3.7x, fall grades update pushes me a little closer, albeit not too much closer, to the GPA median.

Why Chicago?/Withdrawing: Still unsure whether I want to try and ride out this waitlist, really have to think about this one.

Other top choices: Hoping for a miracle from Columbia, hoping to hear ANYTHING from Michigan or UVa, but would be very happy in any case to attend DCG with a little money.

172 (from a higher first lsat). around median GPA.

If I get 60k or more from Duke, I'll withdraw.

Chicago was among my top choices, but I will be withdrawing. I have a seat deposit due before I would ever hear back from them.

3.5/172

172/3.5 Thinking Michigan Summer Start, in which case I probably wouldn't hear from Chicago until I already enrolled. But I'm gonna try until then.

I was WL but i don't really know why I wasn't just rejected. I'm not gonna pursue it - it's pretty much between UVA and tons of money at UMN for me.

I'm a 170 too, don't worry. I think we're few and far between on the WL, so I feel lucky.

Going to write the Why UChi and wait it out for a while but most likely will take the scholly I got from Umich.
Not much hope for getting in with all the people rejected and WL with significantly better numbers.

3.42/174, will probably just sit on the waitlist sending LOCI till deposits are due then give up.

Umm...I guess that would depend on whether you've been waitlisted at Chicago.

Anyway, my best option at the moment is Michigan summer start with $67.5k. It sucks that it will preclude me from riding out Chicago's waitlist, but to be honest I'm kinda excited at the prospect of starting early. At this point, Columbia is the only potential game changer for me.

Stats are 172/3.88 btw

Good luck to those who choose to stick it out! I'll definitely be rooting for you.

I guess I should put mine in too.

Stats: 169 Feb 2010/162 June 2007/ 3.71 LSDAS GPA (3.84 degree GPA)

Chicago is clearly a reach for me, so I was surprised to not just be outright rejected. Just visited Michigan, and fell in love, so that will probably be the school for me (although I'm a fall start, so I could stay on the WL). Not sure if I'm going to stay on or not yet. Still waiting to hear back from NYU, Columbia, and Northwestern. Really only NYU could be a game changer for me at this point, I think.

167 / 3.78

I think I'll write the Why Chicago just because the deadline is March, and I'm interested in seeing what comes of it. This is my only waitlist so far; I've only heard from 4 of the 20 schools I applied to. However, if I start to hear that I'm waitlisted at more of my top schools, I might choose to skip the Why Chicago bit and just send in an updated transcript.

Top Choices: UCLA / USC.

Stats: 3.65/173

Why Chicago: I might write one to keep my options open

Other top choices: NYU and Berkeley

Stats slightly above what they are on LSN. But also have 170/168 scores.

If I manage to get a job between now and March I will be putting that in my Why X Essay. Got a feeling I got the WL cuz I sent in the same PS as last cycle so they are not sure about my commitment.

I agree on this not sure about commitment thing...

Well Chicago isn't going to... I must say we could have tried harder for such scarce and coveted seats. Makes me want to try harder.

True. All this its-all-about-numbers we get from TLS was not helping. LSN graphs for CCN sorta prove that its not all about numbers from a high amount of yellow in the high stats areas. Should've seen this WL coming actually.

I did since my numbers are sub par. I am going to have to regroup after Columbia and NYU to decide what to do. I have nothing to sent to Berkeley for matching right now :(

171, 3.69...not shocked at all by this one. May write a Why Chicago but probably not for at least a few wks, once I hear from other places (hopefully!). Top prospect now is Penn; game changers are miracles from CN (not even mentioning H b/c I know my odds are laughable!)
