Ahhhh. Still at complete 12/14. I'm not strongly considering it any more, but I'd still like to have my ducks in a row.

For those of you that got scholarships, did you receive an email within the same day? Or was the scholarship info in your packet? Or in the email admitting you? Just got an email admitting me, and just wasn't sure what to expect money wise.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'm curious too. It's basically CUA vs AU for me and the only thing I can think of that would tip it to CUA's favor is a big pile of money. For those of you that got scholarships, did you receive an email within the same day? A bunch of us are interviewing to increase our scholarship money. Have you heard of people getting near or full rides after these interviews?

Yes, All of the full rides I have heard of came after the interview process. If you are considering CUA you should go. Unless you are a total moron the cost of the visit will be easily offset by a scholly increase.
I went through the process, and was given an increase twice.
I have only heard of a few people who didnt have a 25% requirement to retain from 1L to 2L, so congrats to anyone who gets that.
Dress was formal for the meeting last year.

Thanks! That info is huge. What kind of questions do they ask in the interview, any tips, etc?

They ask typical interview questions. What do you want to do, why you want Law School, why CUA, "Tell me about yourself"
I approached it very casually, and it worked for me... But the experience seems to vary based on who interviews.
My only tips on the interviews is not to flub the basic questions. I dunno if you guys are right out of UG, but if you are use Google and reread your personal statement.
My decision came down to AU and CUA, so if anyone else is struggling between them, I got money at both and visited like 5 times.

Of my friends 3 have paid internships, 2 have judicial internships, and the rest have random stuff. Not too many people without anything yet, but I am among them. (Sad face)

One of the things I have heard about CUA Law is that the administration is terrible. Is that true or is it written by a bunch of bitter people?

Is anyone at the school worried about it slipping into the 3rd Tier this year?

It is a good chance that they would slip into T3.YankeesFan wrote:Is anyone at the school worried about it slipping into the 3rd Tier this year?

Re: Catholic University 2011
I applied 12/27 and my status just changed from "complete" to "desicion rendered" on friday 2/25. However, I am worried now because I read that some of you received an email... =x making me wonder if I am expecting a rejection letter =/ I scored a 155 with a 3.4 GPA. Is the acceptance always announced through email?

Re: Catholic University 2011
Regarding dropping into T3- I am hugely concerned, and actually my class discussed it with the Dean.
I have done my own research into the rankings. The scores that are the biggest indicators of school prestige are LSAT/GPA, and reputation scores. We actually fare pretty well in all three.
We lag in some areas to be sure, but there should be some significant fluctuation from year to year. My best guess is that we hover in the 90's for the next few years, and possibly drop out for a year or two (not too unlikely that it will be this year).
It shouldnt be too disastrous- Some of the schools we compete with in the low 90's have had some awful bar passage troubles, and some huge employment problems (since it is trailing, it will keep hitting schools that compete in big areas [Depaul, Catholic, Many NY schools] harder than the Iowa's or Michigan States of the world)
If your sole concern is ranking, dont go to CUA. If it is a concern, but you are willing to consider lower 90s, i wouldnt freak.
A final tip- Take a look at the Helmholtz(sp?) rankings from last year. They can help figure out the parts to rankings that are meaningful to you.

Re: Catholic University 2011
There was a question about the administration I dont know if I answered.
Administration is mixed. I would say most of them are awesome, responsive, and very open to working with students (even the registrar). A few of them are cranky folks, but you can generally work around them. My biggest knock would be the staff- they suck. The staff includes security guards, cafeteria workers, maintenance folks, janitorial staff, and even some of the secretary type folks.
Overall I would actually says the administration is student oriented and reasonably responsive. The staff is really quite bad.
