I couldn't be happier and I am looking forward to W&M and the class of 2014. For everyone currently on the waitlist, take initiative and work hard to get a spot! Let me know if you have any questions.

So what worked for you? I've sent in multiple LOCI's about a month ago (one to each admissions dean). What else should I do? Send another batch? I have no promotions or awards to update them with...other than pledging my first unborn child...

TNFSkier16,

It sounds like you've done a lot and, ideally, that will make a difference. I actually sent a couple additional letters of recommendation, one LOCI, and then called the admissions office.

I don't think simply doing those things guarantees anything (obviously). I think it's most important to convey where W&M sits on your list and to convey that in a genuine way.

I would call and just touch base with an admissions rep.

Thanks for your advice. Guess I'll have another chat with Faye and Jen this afternoon.....

Interesting: I called and was told that they are not even looking at their waitlist until early June - this before they even asked (actually they never did) my name. This was May 10th.
I guess their policy is not what they say.

I've noticed a lot of schools doing this. I think its a way to prevent people from bugging them.

Mine stated they had 'overadmitted' based on deposits currently down, but that they expected to eventually have some withdrawals, they had already admitted off the waitlist, and might possibly admit more.

Then it asked me to withdraw if I planned to go somewhere else

Same here. Hate to put it this way but hopefully an email like this will provoke some people to withdraw in order to dwindle down the wait list. That way we all get in!

Did anyone receive a different email regarding wait lists? I'm just trying to see if that was a blanket email or specific to each candidate.

i'm pretty sure it was a blanket one as far as we can tell. i think it would've been different if the email was like "is W&M your first choice/would you accept an offer of admission if given one?" but this was more of a weed-out, in my opinion.

but for those who have received offers from the waitlist, what were your numbers?

I just spoke with Dean Wixson. There is no second round of deposits and W&M has still overcommitted its seats for this fall.

W&M accepted students: Please remember to withdraw if you do not intend to enroll this fall. The waitlist is getting anxious :)
