Does NYU promise a decision by April 30th? Or should I be prepared to sit tight?

No one promised me anything. UR 2/9 I would be prepared to wait it out.srvyorgeneral wrote:Does NYU promise a decision by April 30th? Or should I be prepared to sit tight?

UR since 10/29. I'd withdraw but I'm just curious to see how long they'll keep me in limbo. Had my app in since 10/10 or so...

I had 12 last cycle and still managed 6 after applying in Sept ... light weight!florencezx wrote:5th waitlist, life cannot be better
Best of luck getting off one of them - the one you really want.

Sorry to be posting this amid all the WL's and ding's, but does anyone who has been accepted and placed a deposit know how long it usually takes between paying the deposit and getting your student number and stuff so you can fill the residence form?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: NYU 2011
Waitlisted via email yesterday. I had been under review since 2/25.
What is the timeline for movement on NYU's waitlist? Is there a realistic chance of getting in off NYU's waitlist?

I think in years past (like '08) people started getting in in May but seems like in '09 it was june/july and even august...so really who knows! Last year no one that anyone knows of got in off the waitlist...so it truly does vary year to year. I think this year may actually be better though given their applications went down by almost 15%...but who knows. I just started a thread for us waitlisted folk to discuss all this stuff!lawscholar20 wrote:Waitlisted via email yesterday. I had been under review since 2/25.

Don't know if this will give you hope or not, but right now there's actually a decent number (on TLS anyway) of committed NYU people who have already sent in their deposits that are riding the HLS waitlist. The Harvard waitlist (which actually gets used) starts seeing movement in May, so it is definitely possible that some of these people will get picked up by HYS - hopefully opening spots for some of you!!!ilovemulch wrote:I think in years past (like '08) people started getting in in May but seems like in '09 it was june/july and even august...so really who knows! Well, they don't sound very much like "committed NYU people," then. Or else they'd tell HLS to shove it.law_monkey wrote:Don't know if this will give you hope or not, but right now there's actually a decent number (on TLS anyway) of committed NYU people who have already sent in their deposits that are riding the HLS waitlist. Re: NYU 2011
Haha true, but I meant committed as in "I sent in the deposit and given all of the current options that are realistically in front of me NYU is my choice." That fun fuzzy gray area that can possibly give WLers a small glimmer of hope.somewhere wrote:Well, they don't sound very much like "committed NYU people," then. I specifically know someone in this situation...*cough*law_monkey wrote:Haha true, but I meant committed as in "I sent in the deposit and given all of the current options that are realistically in front of me NYU is my choice." Edit: Absent a full ride to NYU, anyone qualifying for need based aid would be financially wise not to tell HLS to "shove it." Just sayin'
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
