Binding Referral at Georgetown

I was informed that if an admitted student defers his admission to Georgetown law school, that deferral is "binding." What exactly does this mean?

If I'm accepted but defer my admission for a year, what happens if I don't go? It's not like they can force you to study law and graduate.

you just can't go anywhere else...if you don't go anywhere, that's no problem.

What happens if you try to go somewhere else? Are they going to contact USC/NYU/etc and call dibs?

AdComms are in communication with each other, iirc.

They would not "call dibs," they would rescind all your offers.
