Here is my question:

NYLS want a $500 seat deposit on June 1 and will not agree to an extension.

I so cannot afford to lose that kind of money to NYLS if it turns out I get into Hofstra or CUNY. Both of those schools appeal to me more because NYLS is so expensive (the cost terrifies me!) CUNY is much more reasonably priced and would be great for me as I am interested in practicing Immigrant Rights law or working for USCIS. Hofstra I applied to part-time so I could keep working part-time at my Paralegal job, which again would make it much more affordable.

So what do you think should I pay the deposit to NYLS in case I don't get in anywhere else? Or should I take a risk and let the NYLS deadline lapse and hope to God I get into one of my top-choices?

No, you didn't type anything wrong. You were just being (correctly) warned to stay away from NYLS. An incredibly expensive school with incredibly bad job prospects. I'd stay away.

I think I agree with you about NYLS, thank you for your advice. I think that the fact that they won't even give me a small extension on the deadline is an omen of how they might be later on. More importantly, they are so so so expensive, I don't know how anyone can afford that!

FYI I got a 150 (not v. good I know but I never did a standardized test before). Foreign degree was translated as being "above average" I have a British law degree and 5 years of experience as a law clerk.

Is anyone else waiting to hear from CUNY? I don't know what to make of their slowness, I never thought it would take them 5 months to respond to me.

I am a 27 year old girl from England and I emigrated here 3 years ago.

This is my second time on the site (I joined a few days ago) and I am genuinely asking these questions.

I was just trying to be a bit light-hearted and I meant it that my job is dull. Being a paralegal is no fun if you have ambition to do more than that.
