Been accepted into a school you thought u had little chance?
I was interested to hear if any of you have been/were accepted into a school(s) that you really didn't think you had a chance of getting into.
Maybe you applied just in case?
And you were ACCEPTED.
Please list any/all of this and the circumstances around it.
Really looking to motivate myself/others regarding schools we don't feel we have a solid chance with, but "may" apply to. (SRS)

Yup, GW.
Reverse-splitter. However I will not be attending because I was so sure I wasn't getting in that I hadn't thought about paying for it at sticker.

Were your LSAT/GPA well below the median, or...?insertclevernamehere wrote:Yup, GW.

Even if you have a low gpa and lsat, if the school sends you a fee waiver, you actually have a decent shot! Good luck!

LOL, not aware of Fee Waivers-not in the application process yet. (srs)holydonkey wrote:Even if you have a low gpa and lsat, if the school sends you a fee waiver, you actually have a decent shot! Good luck!
Do you apply for fee waivers?
Also, the thread Title now reads "little chance" instead of "0% chance"
Also, I appreciate the time you took to make that gif. Made me LOL-

Yeah, I didn't realize that W&L and GMU are so splitter-friendly. I only applied because they each gave me a fee waiver.

Yeah, I got into U. Chicago even though I thought I had pretty much no chance of getting in, and only applied since I got a fee waiver.

So are fee waivers something that schools send you when you they are interested in you, or do you apply for them to save money on applications to school on the LSAC site? Srs question, not in the app process yet so would appreciate any info or link to a valuable fee waiver thread.dakatz wrote:Yeah, I got into U. Accepted to UCLA with a 3.5 GPA. Was very surprised.

A splitter is someone whose LSAT is above a schools 75th percentile but whose GPA is below their 25th. A reverse splitter is the opposite.TOMaHULK wrote:Splitter friendly?mountaintime wrote:Yeah, I didn't realize that W&L and GMU are so splitter-friendly. Oh, makes sense. Splitter is LSAT 75th and GPA >25th. Reverse is reverse. A lot of threads are making a low more sense to me now.d34dluk3 wrote:A splitter is someone whose LSAT is above a schools 75th percentile but whose GPA is below their 25th. That's funny.holydonkey wrote:
So did you get in to either, or is this just a scenerio based on the fact that the 2 LSAT scores were different?

Re: Been accepted into a school you thought u had little chance?
Darling, I hate to tell you this, but fee waivers exist to boost a school's ranking. It doesn't mean that they are any more likely to accept you. You see, for every applicant that they deny, their selectivity is higher. Selectivity is one of the things in the formula used in the US News rankings.TOMaHULK wrote:So are fee waivers something that schools send you when you they are interested in you, or do you apply for them to save money on applications to school on the LSAC site? This stands for Early Decision, which is a commitment, generally binding, to enroll at a school should they accept you. The benefit of it is that it makes you much more likely to be accepted since the school knows you won't turn them down.TOMaHULK wrote:How about the word ED
