Howdy everyone.

I will be keeping running totals of LSN data for the Vandy wait list. As of today.

Accepted Attending – 8 students
Accepted No Action – 82 Students
Accepted withdrawn - 109 Students
Wait List – 112

This is only what I know from LSN (people posting they were admitted and they plan on attending etc). If you are on the wait list and plan on withdrawing and haven't posted that you withdrew on LSN, or were accepted and have withdrawn please post here so we can keep an accurate running total of how many spots are open.


I assume that they over enroll the class by about 300%, so I don't know how to speculate on the data we have. Lets collaborate and figure it out!

When I visited last month, someone from admin told me they usually take "a couple dozen" from the wait list. Also told that there wasn't any real increase in apps this year compared to last (something like 40-50 more out of the regular thousands).

I'm waiting it out until August, too. But something miraculous would have to happen for them to call me in the first place and then for me to be able to convince SO that we're not going to California to be closer to her family.

As of Noon PST(which is when I will do updates to this thread every day) we have

Accepted No Action (ANA) – 82 Students + 1 - 1 (the newly AA) - 3

Don't think like that. Remember, you are on the WL for a reason. They have you essentially as an "alternate" for someone else. My understanding is the school doesn't rank, therefore Encyclopedia Brown and his stellar LSAT have no more chance of getting off the WL than anyone else. Its purely about who they are trying to replace in the class, if they need a high LSAT, Encyclopedia gets it. If they need whatever X quality I bring or you bring or someone else brings, they will extend an offer.

That is my understand anyway.

I would very much like input on the numbers and any analysis/trends you guys see. I think most everything besides the WL number and the withdraw numbers will stay fairly stagnant at this point.

My reasoning: Vandy is borderline T14. Most of the people who have vandy acceptances I have seen also had at least 1 T14 so they are deciding between say UMichigan v Vandy $$$. I think almost all of those people will end up at Mich.

I love that you posted this. I hope more people who are admits no answer withdrawal so we can snag a spot!

If you guys want to speculate why you were wait listed I will add next to your name (I know smart is a strong reverse splitter and Brown is a regular splitter thats why i added for them)

My LSAT is probably like 5th %ile, and my GPA is 1/100th point above median.

Why didn't they reject me? Probably almost surely my 7 yrs unique WE. Also, I positively nailed my interview with (what I believe) is a well-placed alum.

To keep the categories to minimum, that's probably best (though the only diversity I personally offer is in age&WE).

I didn't interview initially and I really thought I had no shot at even making the WL. I am around 25%/25% on both of their stats (163/3.45). I have unique background (PM if interested) and strong LORs. I think we are both "diversity" candidates (but NOT URM). I think these kinds of things matter more once you are on the WL since they essentially like you enough to put you there and you are there to fill the slot of someone who is similarly diverse.

I am kind of going for a long haul strategy. I sent a LOCI initially and a new LOR. I am going to have another LOR + interview in May and maybe some more correspondence in June(something like a thank you note to my interviewer). I am going to withdraw all of my other apps as well (except from where I have already put down a deposit) and plan on going to there unless I can get out of vandy purgatory.


You are going to Davis, right?

I'm probably going to ride this WL... I'm getting kind of worried about leaving my plans in the air and not signing a lease for an apartment but everything I hear from Vandy is too amazing to not try wait it out.

I think I have decent softs, Matte can PM me for specific softs if he wants.

Dang. You seriously have your stuff together. You gonna visit in person? They say they love that.

I'm very likely headed to northern California. I'm WLd at Hastings, and its PICAP blows Davis' LRAP away. But I prefer Davis, I think. ... Vandy might be able to change things, but, honestly, it's hard to know.

(Dear Vandy admissions office lurker: I realize this is less than enthusiastic position on my future at Vandy, but I do sincerely love you guys and very much would like to attend; at the very least you'd probably be able to squeeze a deposit from me while I make my case to SO and, yipe, her family.)

Can you get another interview / an interview at all at this point?

I didn't interview the first time around because I started my apps too late and it said that you must request one by December 1st.

I want to visit, esp. if it could help me off the WL, but I live all the way in Cal and airlines are not kind these days.

Waitlisted today! 167/3.4, Would love to go to Vandy, interviewed in october, wondering if a visit would make much of a difference at this point? Writing a LOCI as we speak and trying to think of other ways to show I'm interested!

I'll stay on the waitlist as long as possible. If I get the call after classes have already started at my other school, I'll happily pick up everything and move to Nashville. Good luck to everyone else on the WL.

If you can afford it, I'd visit. Deliver the LOCI in person. Schedule a quick tour of the school. I don't know how much it helps, but they certainly tell you that they note your visit in your file.
