Why are people so hesitant to reveal what school they go or went to? Its not like anyone is going to hunt them down or anything. Besides, schools have so many students that it would be hard to find one person anyways. The only thing I can think of is that they are ashamed. I graduated from East Carolina University and I am proud of the $75,000 degree. lol

no but you getting warmer.kickthebcket wrote: Rocky Top Tennessee. Final answer.
I went to a tiny liberal arts school, so it really wouldnt be hard at all to figure out who i was. But if you did so what? Its not like im throwing out insults or revealing national secrets. I just dont see the benefit of disclosing it, so i choose not 2. I'm a little paranoid sry lol. The only helpful info is that i'm OOS. My state is close to NC but isnt a big one population wise so i think that could of possibly helped in my favor a bit. best of luck to everyonelet0927 wrote:Why are people so hesitant to reveal what school they go or went to? Wow 75,000 for ECU. Tuition has really gone up since I was there 11 yrs ago. I was in-state, but even my OOS friends finished well under 75K. But, hey, just a few yrs ago UNC law tuition was 5,000 a yr less for in-state students. So I can certainly imagine how tuition rates have changed from 11 yrs ago!!

FYI...
I just called the admissions office and was told that they are actively reviewing the waitlist effective today, so we should be hearing something and or seeing some slight movement within a couple of weeks. As the eternal pessimist though, I was compelled to inquire about the size of the waitlist, and it looks as if the waitlist is still somewhere in the neighborhood of ~400 or so applicants long.
Hang in there guys!

400? Ugh. They didn't say anything about their class size/ make up as of today did they?

When I facetiously suggested to the admissions rep that I had heard the waitlist was 400 names long, she said and I quote: "...it (the waitlist) is not quite that big, there have been a few names taken off, so its just shy of 400..."lml09 wrote:Mich_Guy wrote:FYI...

She was pretty emphatic about the fact that the class was not yet full though...lml09 wrote:Mich_Guy wrote:FYI...

Re: UNC Waitlist 2013
The calendar says classes begin August 30 so probably then unless they give an extension, most schools do. I think.

I would think tuition is due before classes start.

Re: UNC Waitlist 2013
No, I have gone to two schools and have done all of the financial aid myself without the help of anyone. I go to a University of North Carolina system school. Most things like that are standard. My brother n' law goes to NCSU and its the same way there. Tuition is usually due the first day of school but every year, here at ECU, they always give a 3 day extension but I'm sure that part is not standard. I would plan on the first day of school but if you want to be conservative, have it a couple of days before.

Re: UNC Waitlist 2013
As a UNC undergrad, tuition was due at the beginning of August even though classes didn't usually start until around August 25th. I would bet money that it's due significantly before the first day of class. The only "extensions" I knew of were just deferring payment if you were doing a tuition payment plan or had financial aid covering your bill. Oddly, UNC seems a bit behind other UNC System schools for their administrative technology. They still sent paper bills out last year...

Re: UNC Waitlist 2013
Well, most financial aid isn't even processed until the first day of class. I don't pay cash for school, I pay with financial aid. I would be happy if I got in and financial aid was processed in the beginning of August but I'm betting they are slow as well. So, if you pay cash then your tuition is due earlier than the first day of class but I'm betting that if you use financial aid, then you don't have to pay until the first day of class.

Re: UNC Waitlist 2013
I think early in August sounds right. I'm sure UNC wants to make sure the majority of people are paying and therefore committing before the end of August.

Re: UNC Waitlist 2013
Just got a voicemail from the Dean of Admissions Michael States offering me a spot in the Fall 2010 class off the waitlist.
I originally applied in early January with a 158 and 3.5 (UNC grad, NC resident). I retook the LSAT in June and got a 168.

HI All,
I just got a call from Dean States offering me a spot this fall! DECISION TIME! For those who are interested, I applied in January, NC resident, 162 3.57, non-traditional and not a minority. I am weighing the options with my fiance this weekend...am still in a bit of shock at the moment. Wow! Good luck everyone.
