You MAY want to provide more DETAILS. Where are you hoping to transfer? Why? Are there any variables? Etc.

If by "low" you mean at or a little below median for your school, you may be able to make a lateral transfer to a similarly-ranked school in another area, if it's for the intent of making a geographic move. However, unless your GPA is strong you have no chance for transferring upward. Upward transfers are all about LS GPA, if yours is low, you are SOL, period. There is no strategy for that because it's not possible.

Need a LOT more information. If you are transferring "down" so to speak, then it might not be as important if your GPA isn't quite as stellar. Some people do this for location as well as personal reasons.

If you're making a "lateral" transfer, they want to see that you did reasonably well at their peer school (not at the bottom at least). And you will want a really good LOR from one of your law school profs who can speak to your ability to function/excel in law school (I've been told by one Dean that this is nearly as important as the LS GPA, if it is a good one from a respected prof).

If you're wanting to transfer "up" then it is obviously more competitive. Not impossible. But it does get more competitive. Try to do the best you can finishing out this semester... and try your best to get an offer to join one of the journals. And again, get a good letter from a law prof.

Also, consider talking to some of the transfers at your school to see what they did. I always liked talking to 2L transfers about studying/etc. even as a 1L because whatever they did at their school obviously worked (even if it was a "lesser" school).

Are you looking for DIFFERENT answers than you received in the transfer threads you created during LAST YEAR's cycle?
