Does anyone know how the waitlist at UCD works?

I got on it yesterday too. Any idea on how big the waitlist is? Davis is now my top choice

i dont know HOW big it is, but i know it's BIG. the lady in admissions said that they will use it though.

we just have to stay positive and hope for the best.

I have! Yesterday. I sent an email with the LOCI and a letter of rec as attachments. I offered to send them hard copies of the material. Pinkney promptly responded and said that electronic copies were sufficient. She's very formal, that lady. I guess she just wants to appear objective all the time? Thanks for starting this thread!

hey guys. im also on the waitlist! i got the figures that the waitlist is around 5000 students, the largest of all the UC's!

first of all whats a loci? and i heard the aren't accepting supplemental materials. and you guys were talking about sending letters of rec, should i do that as well? or what?

That can't be true. By my calculations, looking at last years applicant numbers, plus about 20% more due to the increase in apps, there weren't even 5000 applications to UC Davis Law.

Good luck to the WL people. I've withdrawn to make some room. I have to imagine it'll be a while, though, before they go to the list. Since they are still working through regular admits, some it seems with decent stats.

I'll be withdrawing from the waitlist. Davis gave me a fee waiver which is why I applied. I have no real desire to work in California considering that state's budget crisis. Good luck to the rest of you, hopefully it helps someone.

looks like davis is wrapping up with its regular application decisions. i'm hoping that we get some movement soon!

He/she probably got the 5,000 number from my mention of the undergraduate's wait-list numbers back in April. They were published in a newspaper. I'm expecting that the law school wait-list figures aren't going to be as high, but still high enough to take a while to go through.

Hey all, I was waitlisted too. Anyone have any advice on writing a letter of continued interest? i noticed someone said they emailed it? would it be better to submit a hard copy?

I emailed mine since Davis said they were going completely electronic with the application process. With that said, I haven't received any acknowledgement of the LOCI. Has anyone else received an acknowledgement after sending an LOCI in?

yes i got an acknowledgement. i'm always surprised how quickly Davis replies to all my emails (fastest among all for me), yet they have one of the more slower overall application processes. who would have thought.

DO NOT MAIL HARD COPIES

When I sent my LOCI, I mentioned in the body of my email that hard copies were to follow. Almost immediately after sending, Pinkney replied and said to not send hard copies as they do not have a system for keeping those copies and everything was electronic. So there ya go. Hope this helps.

i keep compulsively checking my email for hopes of a response but no luck yet.

FWIW, I e-mailed a LOCI and an additional LOR from my employer and didn't receive a reply for a few days. I followed up with a phone call and found out that my LOCI and LOR were received.
