BU Full Price or Cardozo $$$

So I've been accepted to BU and to Cardozo, but didn't get any money from BU and a good scholarship from Cardozo. BU has told me that I've been put on the waitlist for a scholarship. As a result I put down my first deposit to both schools in the hopes of getting some money from BU, but after calling their financial aid office it doesn't look promising. If I go to BU I'll probably pay full price.

I want to do IP law but I'm still not sure whether I'll end up more on the entertainment side or doing something with technology and copyright. Love the city of Boston and would really like to practice there, but I don't know if $60,000 in loans a year is such a good idea. Both schools are great for IP law, but of course BU is ranked significantly higher.

Any advice?

Tough one. If you want to work in Boston, you will have an extremely difficult time getting a job there from 'Dozo. Then again, Full tuition ITE is not that fun either. How much $? BU is significantly better but depending on what you wanna do/how much $ it is, it could tip it (maybe).

Thanks for the reply. I received $32,000/year to Cardozo. You're right, the prospect of paying full tuition is not fun. What do you think?

Would you want to practice in NYC? For a long time if not forever? If no, then BU. While both schools are considered regional, Cardozo is much more so.

Would I have good job prospects in the North Jersey area in addition to NYC if I had a degree from Cardozo? Is North Jersey still considered in that "region"?

Anyone else trying to decide between these two schools? Or considering either one?

I would think so, but talk with current students there to find out. Another thing to consider is what kind of law you want to practice, or rather what kind of firm you want to practice in. You're going to have to get stellar grades at Cardozo to hit the big time while you may only have to get "very good grades" at BU to do the same. I would say that Cardozo is more of a risk ITE than BU, but I can see why the debt issue would cause you to think twice.
