Top Law Schools

Not gonna lie, I'm kind of honored to be juggling two WL offers from the toppest schools around. But rather than pollute the SLS 2010 thread with our ambivalence, I thought I'd set up a separate locale over here.

I'm sure you're all wondering how I got here so: 169/3.9 w/softs including unique WE, college athletics, service ad nauseam, and the whole small town angle. Just in case you don't want to click over to my profile and then click back!

Hi, swampthang. I'm on the opposite end of the numbers spectrum (high LSAT, low GPA for Stanford, 178/3.78), so we probably aren;t competing for spots

I'll be staying on the waitlist in case my life circumstances change. I would love the opportunity to attend Stanford, which has been my dream school for about five years (for UG, then for law school). Also on the WL at Harvard.

I sent them a LOCI back in March, well before I was waitlisted. I'm not sure whether I should send a new short and sweet letter with my confirmation that I would like to stay on the waitlist. I'm kind of stalling to see if I get some academic honors or something else worth mentioning in the next couple of weeks; right now, it would just be a new love letter.

Last year, they only admitted people off the waitlist in late July and August, which is a little intimidating.

I'm here with you... not sure how much confidence I have, but lets see if we can do it! Stanford has always been my dream school.

I'm not sure how fully I subscribe to the direct replacement theory of WLs, but if it is indeed Gospel then I will shake your hand and wish you the best. I haven't sent SLS an LOCI, so I guess anything to them would be new. Unfortunately, having done so when I get Held at HLS, I don't think I have anything new to add. Damn you college kids! What can a working stiff write in an LOCI? "Hey Harvard, didn't get fired today"?

July/August WL pulls would NOT be cool. I'd prefer not to burn any bridges at work by giving as much notice as I possibly can, and that would really put a crimp in my style. Maybe all the May/June pulls were anti-LSN/TLS?

Does anyone know if the SLS waitlist historically shows a good bit of movement, and if it's possible to still get financial aid (grants) off the waitlist?

Just got the letter... looks like I'm riding two of these bad boys!

Need-based aid is still offered off the waiting list, according to several admitted students with whom I spoke (though I don't have that confirmation from Mr. Barnes in Financial Aid).

I don't know if they would guarantee to get you a financial aid offer before you have to say "Yes" to their admissions offer, however. That may be a question for them.

This is the only one I'll ride out all the way through...did you hear that, SLS? I'd drop it all in a heartbeat for you

Hey! We're almost numbers twins and your softs are similar (small town, service, but no athletics. Lots of overseas travel). But I won't hold it against you; even though you're the competition. However, on a completely unrelated note: Don't you think you should withdraw? LOL just kidding.

Yeah I'm thrilled and honored. It is a big deal just to be on this list. So, how do get off this list? Win the Noble Prize between now and then? Peace in the Middle East? Cold Fusion?

I'm retaking the LSAT. Anyone else?

You're above the LSAT 75th and around the GPA 75th, so you should have a great shot of getting off it if you write a strong LOCI. Hope to see you in the fall!

Does anyone know how Stanford uses its waitlist? Do they rank the waitlist? Is it chronological? I thought I'd ask here before I bother admissions.

I guess I'll jump in here. Not sure if I'm in it for the long haul.

I'll join as well. 168/3.8 with good softs and 6 yrs work experience. Quite frankly just surprised to still be in the running at SLS (and HLS for that matter), would be shocked to get an acceptance. In the meantime, more than happy that I'll probably be heading to NYU in the fall...

Hi all. I'm in this one for the long hall, too. 168/3.96 PR. I have interesting softs as well. Good luck everyone.

got waitlist letters from stanford, harvard, and columbia all on the same day. plan on stayin the course and putting down deposit at chicago.

Called and they said my letter was mailed April 15th.
