In the interest of full disclosure would you guy's recommend disclosing that you were kicked out of high school? I was kicked out my senior year 3 weeks before graduation because of truancies, and graduated from an alternative high school a few months later.
Also is this ? also asking if you have ever been fired from a job? I was let go from a job 7 years ago for showing up to work late.
below is how the ? reads.......
Has any educational institution, governmental or administrative agency (including any branch of the armed forces) or employer ever taken dicsiplinary action against you (including academic probation or suspension).?
Thanks in advance for your help.

This isn't the FBI bro. I'd probably include the expulsion. How old were you when you got fired? I can't imagine a law school giving a shit that you got fired from a summer job when you were 14 or 15.

I was 19 and I was working two jobs at the time before I transferred to UCSB, a scheduling conflict led me to show up late to one of em and I was let go(the instituion that let me go is no longer in business). Im a non traditional app. been outta school for 5 years, been working full time. I had to leave UCSB in 2004 two classes short of graduation to help my parents save there home and business. Went back in the summer of 2008 to complete took 4 classes in the summer got a 4.0. I have multiple alcolhol ( dui, mip, mip, drunk in public) related offenses that took place when I was 19-21 years of age ( I am 28 now) which also conincide with the time I did the worst in school. I also was laid off from a mortgage job 2 years ago which prompted me to go back to school (should I include this as well?). I know I have alot of negative things to overcome in my application, and I think i've done a decent job putting a postive spin on my personal growth and what I had to overcome to get to this point in my PS, criminal addendum, grades addendum. Since I already have so many blemishes on my application I don't want to include anything that's not necessary. At the same time, I don't want to take a high risk of not passing the moral turpitude examination by the bar. lsat 156/ gpa 2.75. Applying to mostly tier 3/ and regional programs in CA. Any insight is much appreciated.

It says Any institution or job, so I would err on the side of caution and disclose. But I'd be careful with how you say it and disclose it.

The key is to read the law school app questions BROADLY and answer them accordingly. In regards to this ? I would disclose. May be different for other apps though. Also, don't worry. If your college career is solid law schools will be more than happy to look over your high school troubles. But still disclose on this app.

Well you definetly have to disclose the criminal stuff. Sounds like you have the stuff for one hell of a personal statement.

If it's a crappy job that wouldn't merit a mention on the resume, I wouldn't worry about it. If it was a job you had for a while, or a good job, then you probably need to explain why you left. You should definitely write an addendum high school, although I doubt a school will care about that since it was so long ago. The DUI's are different. You should might want to look into hiring a professional admissions consultant to read/edit your addenda and help you best explain what was going on. I'm sure lots of people have come to them with variations on this story before, so they can tell you what works and what doesn't.

I think it's a great idea to get extra help on this. I think there's a way to spin this in a positive light - especially since it seems that your problems were a few years ago. I think you have to emphasize growth, and yes, you're going to have to put in the work to add a few addendums. Is that going to be fun? No, but at least you're given the opportunity to explain everything. I think err on the side of caution, and be honest. If a school isn't willing to accept that you have matured, you probably shouldn't be going there, anyway.
How much does a professional admissions consultant generally cost?

I'll read over your documents if you'd like.
Funny enough, this was the main reason why I didn't apply to UNC, specifically because they asked about high school disciplinary action. Although I was never expelled, I did have more than my fair share of detentions for spiking the prom punch and etc.

You certainly don't want to have to address any of these issues later on and risk possible disciplinary actions. I believe you said that your worst grades/alcohol arrests generally occured at the same time period? - I have a pending DUI myself and although it hasn't tarnished my application I do believe it hindered it. With that being said, I really agree that you can use your youth experiences especially hardships and life lessons to really promote your personal growth and acknowledge the not so lovely side of you. I would certainly have someone look over your PS/ADs...although it's wise to disclose I'm sure there are details that can be avoided.
