Riding a Waitlist...?

Will someone who has done this talk about riding a waitlist?

If you ride out a waitlist and hear a matter of weeks or days before classes start how hard is it to make the transition to the new school? Particularly if it is on the other side of the country?

Is there any way to defer a waitlist acceptance and transfer the following year?

I'm facing a few waitlists and trying to figure out what to do...

And I thought this would all be done by now.

I'm sure it's a pain to make a last-minute transition and could be complicated if you have apartment leases, etc.

Most schools do not allow you to defer a wait list offer, but double check with each school you are waitlisted at. Most have an FAQ answering that, though.

I'm in the same situation. My top school waitlisted me. If I haven't heard back from late July/Early August then I am saying fuck them and laying down roots with another school. If its on the other side of the country...thats got to be a nightmare. Good luck.

Ok, so with riding the waitlist, you will obviously lose your seat deposits at other schools should you gain admission.

But how does financial aid work? Particularly if you start classes at school A a couple of weeks before you get in off the waitlist at school B??? Are you obligated to pay that whole semester of tuition at school A?

I'm a little nervous with how this works...
