What's considered the best etiquette for notification of withdrawal? A letter sent by snail mail, an email, or a phone call?

Unless you have some sort of personal connection to the admissions office, just send them an email. Believe me, they don't really care how you tell them. They just want to know.

In other news, I withdrew from UF ($30K in state scholly) today. Hope this helps out those on the WL since I know they have been WL-ing up a storm recently. And I hope my offer can go to someone else too :)
