The majority of our schools just don't have enough TLS users to keep a thread going. If you are dead set on staying in the Midwest for law school here is the thread for you!
So hey who have you heard from? I've heard from DePaul, Creighton, Mercer, St Thomas, Iowa, Drake, Minnesota, and Loyola.
I will be practicing law in the Des Moines area so these schools are all capable of landing very good jobs here. Some more so than others though!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to Iowa this fall. Hoping to land a job in the Chicago market.

The Chicago market is a tough one but there are a lot of lawyers going from Iowa into the Chicago market.
Depaul was one of the first shools to get back with me and I was very impressed with that.

Yeah, DePaul had a very quick response time. What school are you leaning towards?

I have finally decided to send in my seat deposit to William Mitchell. They gave me a 45% tuition scholarship, and nobody has beaten that offer yet. I'm gonna be a NYC transplant, but I have fallen in love with the Midwest, especially Minneapolis/St. Paul!

oooo Did you get the St. Thomas hat in the mail? I thought that was a really nice, awesome touch since it is so cold there. I didnt get a full ride but dang they did throw 45k my way and that is not anything to snuff at.
Im heading out to the admitted students day thing at Drake today and on the 15th to the one at Creighton and a few others. On the bright side to having to get snazzied up it is gonna be in the 30's today
Iowa might be better ranked than Wisconsin but that doesn't necessarily mean it is a better school especially if they know what area of law they want to practice etc. Heck huge parts of the ranking like the size of a law school library have not much to do with the quality of the education you receive imo

+1 TTTT states like ND and SD are ITT but Tier 1's (IN and OH) aren't?

I didn't initially plan on it, but I have nice offers from Iowa and Minnesota, so I'll end up at one of those, unless Vanderbilt takes me off the WL. I don't really have much experience with the midwest, but I'm visiting Minneapolis for the MN ASD and I'm enjoying the city.

I'll probably end up at MN (on WL), Iowa, IUB, Wisc (on WL), or William Mitchell...

I left off Ohio and Indiana because they are so far east from here. I know they're technically the midwest but most folks in the midwest dont consider them the midwest....

I will probably end up at Wisconsin or ND (waitlist), although Ohio State is an option as well.

Never even been to the Midwest before really, but U Chi is looking like the likely winner this cycle!

In North Dakota we are proud to be a TTT state not a TTTT. Plus, we have Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Ohio's National Park is based on a river so polluted it is unsafe to swim in, much less drink from.

Ohio also has the honor of having caught a major river on fire several times. Ahh Cleveland...

In the end this thread just gives a home to us students who WANT to be practicing law in and going to school in the midwest.
We know that is not the aspirations of most on here; but hey we're thrilled about our choices.
Thanks to the invaluable advice given on TLS I was able to make this a choice. I did what I wanted on the LSAT and successfully negotiated merit aid between a few institutions. I will be practicing in Iowa, so hey that REALLY narrows one's choices. Law schools are much fewer and farther between out here.

That's insane. Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin - basically the Great Lake States - are the core of the Midwest. Both in terms of culture and population. In fact, the Midwest is basically just the Old Northwest Territory. Its there that the populations first boomed and the prototypical "Midwestern" culture developed. Back in the country's formative years anything past St. Louis was just vaguely conceived of as "the West." Our institutions are littered with remnants of that notion. The plains states just got added to the Midwest region as an administrative afterthought. I'd even go so far as to say I consider Western PA far more "Midwestern" than South Dakota.
Also, athletic conferences originally formed through social as well as geographic similarities. The Big 10 is clearly the Midwestern conference, and its no coincidence that its firmly entrenched in these same states, not Kansas and Nebraska.

I don't care what states you add to it. So hey are you going to a Midwest school by any definition of the word?

Hah hah, hey Michiganders have a growing inferiority complex. I can't help it. Pretty much the only thing we have going for us is that we don't need a map to show where we live.
And yes, I did.

The midwest for any who want to join in this thread:

And yeah Ohio is the small state to the far right of the picture. We'd love to have you in this thread too.
